Provides home maintenance and repair for homeowners living in their homes. Accepts donations of home maintenance materials. Type of work completed varies with availability of materials and skill level of volunteers. Serves senior citizens, ages 60 and over. Disabled and/or low-income home owners are accepted on space-available basis. Volunteers ages 16-18 must be with a parent.

Weatherizes dwellings to assist low income households to offset the high cost of home heating. Work may include reducing air infiltration and installing insulation, roof repair, checking heating systems for safety and repairing or replacing as necessary, and caulking.

Provides a Emergency Home Repair Program for elderly and low income families. Repairs may include: electrical work, plumbing, roofing, structural repairs, energy management and heating systems, and accessibility construction for the handicapped.

This program provides low-interest loans for homebuyers, down payment and closing cost assistance, home repair loans, and a Homeownership Education Program. Staff also provide housing counseling which includes budget and credit counseling, mortgage default and foreclosure counseling, Fair Housing counseling, and financial management.

Addresses sub-standard housing conditions in South Boston and the Counties of Charlotte and Halifax. Priority given to low and moderate income homeowners, elderly and handicapped.

Offers minor home repairs for people with low incomes.

Provides a government lending arm for housing program and repairs for very low income applicants across VA. For very-low income homeowners 62 years old and older who cannot afford a loan to make necessary repairs, grant funds may be available, depending on eligibility. Grants may be used to remove health or safety hazards, or to remodel dwellings to make them accessible to household members with disabilities. Grants are limited to lifetime assistance of $7,500. Provides a 1% loan for 20 years in an amount up to $20,000.00. This rate is fixed for the life of the loan. The loan is used to repair, improve or modernize a home. You must occupy the home and prove ownership.

Emergency help repairing homes for families and individuals who cannot afford to buy services and those whose health or safety are threatened. Work usually includes exterior and sometimes interior repair; restoration of pumps, water heaters, and sinks; construction of wheelchair ramps and stairs; and roof repairs (at the availibility of volunteers). The main focus is elderly, disabled and families with young children.

Provides grants to qualified low income individuals for unexpected, emergency repairs. Program funds may also be used to adapt homes for handicap accessibility.

Lead Safe Roanoke is a grant-funded program designed to reduce lead poisoning in children age 5 and under by stabilizing lead-based paint hazards found in rental and single-family homes built in Roanoke prior to 1978.

Provide repairs including roof replacement, access ramps, floor repair, and more. Repair work is performed by teams of about 7 volunteers, often including high school youth. Volunteers work for one week at a time. Many projects require multiple weeks to complete.

Provides vital housing repair services to very low income individuals and families who are unable to help themselves due to sickness, disability or lack of financial resources. Programs include: Home Repair Program, Home Accessibility Modification Program, Home Replacement Program and Indoor Plumbing Rehabilitation Program.

Involved in facilitating and participating in various construction projects. Projects range from new church construction to repairing homes of persons in need by roofing, painting, installing wheelchair ramps, performing maintenance, yard work, and cutting wood.

Build and renovate critically needed schools, clinics, homes, and centers for ecological and economic development.

Offers low income homeowners the opportunity to have their homes become more energy efficient. Crew members are also available to provide private weatherization assistance on a for profit basis to area residents, time permitting.

Provides a food pantry, free clothing and furniture, basic home repairs and limited financial assistance to eligible clients at a limited dollar amount.

Provides funding for accessibility modifications through the Rental Unit Accessibility Modification Program and the Granting Freedom Program through Virginia Housing.

Loudoun Habitat for Humanity's Home Repair Program covers tasks such as: exterior painting and material repairs, landscaping, building or repairing ramps or sheds, building or repairing a porch or deck, gutter repair and cleaning, sidewalk repair, external cleanup, weatherization, and critical home repair.

Volunteers donate time, labor, and materials to repair the homes of seniors, those with disabilities and low income families. Offers home modifications needed so clients with disabilities can remain safely in their homes. Includes carpentry, yard work, plumbing and electrical work. Call before visiting office to confirm that staff is available.

Provides housing rehabilitation for the low income, the aged, and people with disabilities. Works with local agencies, civic organizations, and churches to meet the housing needs of this population. Assists with getting indoor plumbing work done. Repairs and construction are done in the spring and summer.

Program serves homeowners with repairs to plumbing repairs, well and septic system repairs. Funds from Federal and State grants will help qualified low-income homeowners by paying for a portion of the repairs. The balance is then paid back with no interest loans and affordable monthly payments.

Provides home modifications such as stair lifts, ramps, elevators and porch lifts for the elderly and disabled.

A grant of up to $8,000 to make accessibility modifications to a rental unit. Accessibility grants can be used to install ramps, grab bars and other modifications to make your home easier to navigate. This is not a loan, so no repayment is ever needed.
