Godwin, Jr. Courts Building, the inmate holding area for court and seven courts. In addition, the Sheriff's Office serves all civil papers in the City of Suffolk and assists the Suffolk Police Department in the transportation of Juvenile and Mentally Challenged persons. Serve as a member of the Western Tidewater Regional Jail Board.

Provides information, referral and resources for military service members and their families on any needs - military or civilian; answer questions concerning, but not limited to: adoption, child care, education, EFMP/ special needs, financial assistance, health care, housing, legal services, military benefits, non-support, relocation, ombudsmen, parenting programs, recreation, support groups, etc. Services also provided for family advocacy [FAP] (child abuse & neglect, spouse abuse, domestic violence) and sexual assault prevention and response [SAPR]. Workshops include those on anger management, stress management, parenting issues, New Spouse orientation (on-line at CNIC only), Foreign Born Spouse Connection; FAP and SAPR education requirements for the military, and other topics. We also have a New Parent Support program where services are available for expectant parents and parents of new babies and children up to age 3. The GLHFH homeownership program supports low income families in attaining affordable permanent housing. The program partners with the family and volunteers to build a simple, decent home. Families are expected to complete 200-300 hours of sweat equity (volunteer labor) toward the building of Habitat homes. Families must participate in an educational program. The home is sold to the family with a no interest mortgage.

The YMCA focuses on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Provide childcare to families whose children might otherwise be in self care or be responsible for the care of younger siblings while at home.
