The Surry County Office of Emergency Services provides management, coordination, training, and response to small or large emergencies that impact the citizens of the County. During emergencies, the Office of Emergency Services plans, implements and coordinates a response as outlined in the County Emergency Operations Plan.

"A Matter of Balance" is a fall prevention program designed to reduce fear of falling and encourage physical activity in older adults. It involves interactive workshops, exercise training, and environmental modifications to address the root causes of falls. The program is offered in small groups, led by trained coaches, and typically consists of eight two-hour sessions.

Charterhouse School is a fully accredited day school students with specialized education needs in Richmond Metro and surrounding areas. Elementary, middle and high school classes for students who struggle to function in their current school setting due to learning, behavioral, or emotional challenges. Charterhouse School also offers integrated programs designed to meet the unique needs of students with autism spectrum disorders.

The Central Virginia Task Force on Domestic Violence in Later Life is a multi-disciplinary local partnership of organizations working to raise awareness and ‌improve the community response to women aged 50 and older who experience domestic, sexual, or family violence.

The purpose of the Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court is to provide an independent forum to: (1) resolve juvenile and domestic relations disputes and other legal matters in a fair, efficient, and effective manner; and (2) protect the rights of all parties before the Court pursuant to the laws of Virginia and the Constitutions of Virginia and the United States. The Court will advance the best interests of youth and families; and serve and protect the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia, by holding individuals accountable for their actions.

The Energy Assistance Program consists of three components: Fuel Assistance assists low-income eligible households by supplementing home energy costs. Applications are accepted the second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November. Crisis Assistance assists low-income households with energy related emergencies. Applications are accepted November 1st through March 15th. Cooling Assistance assists households in acquiring or repairing cooling equipment and /or payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment. Oxford House is a network of self-run, self-supported recovery homes for members recovering from alcohol and substance abuse. When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House.

EnergyShare is Dominion Energy's year-round energy assistance program of last resort. Anyone facing a crisis (ex: unemployment, unexpected large car repairs, unexpected house repairs, unexpected medical crisis, etc.) and in danger of losing their primary heating/cooling or needing to restore service may be eligible for assistance. EnergyShare is not income based. Contact the Amelia County Department of Social Services for screening requirements and to schedule an appointment.

In partnership with people with disabilities and their families, the Division of Rehabilitative Services collaborates with the public and private sectors to provide and advocate for the highest quality services that empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and full inclusion into society. Virginia CARES provides one-on-one counseling with ex-offenders and their families to help them transition back into their communities. Additional services include assistance with transportation, housing, and employment.
