Provides financial assistance to farmers and landowners in Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson counties who install agricultural conservation practices. Reimburses landowners for portion of installation costs for approved practices. Must provide a written conservation plan for approval of SWCD Board beforehand. Agricultural BMP (Best Management Practices) Tax Credit may be available. Practices must first be approved by the SWCD Board prior to installation in order to qualify later for the tax credit. In partnership with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) and Henrico County, the Crisis Receiving Center (CRC) at St. Joseph’s Villa provides immediate help for youth in need of emergency behavioral health care, and their families. Youth may stay at the CRC for up to 23 hours, during which time they are directly linked to the next appropriate level of care. The transition of care is a collaborative process. Our multidisciplinary team of nurses, clinicians, and mental health professionals actively connect youth and families to community-based services for follow-up treatment, and ensure a warm handoff by scheduling appointments, communicating closely with service providers, and tailoring referrals based on the individual’s and family’s specific needs and location. All youth leave with a personalized Safety Plan, linkages to their local Community Services Board (CSB), and referrals that may include outpatient counseling, therapy centers, Villa in-home services, or the Villa’s nearby Crisis Stabilization Unit. The CRC at St. Joseph's Villa is the first youth-specific facility of its kind in Virginia, offering a specialized alternative to hospital emergency departments and reduced waiting periods for service.

Provides a variety of quality recreational programs and leisure activities for Appomattox County residents along with providing management of parks, recreation areas and civic facilities. The service is available for persons with a temporary or permanent disability. Everyone must be certified to use BT Access requiring an application process. Any person traveling to Blacksburg with a valid ADA Eligibility Card from another state may also ride BT Access under the guidelines of the ADA. The service known as door-to-door allows the BT Access operator to accompany the eligible passenger from their door to the first exterior door of their destination. BT Access offers Travel Training for passengers who are eligible for BT Access services but who may also be able to use the accessible low floor buses. Riding the bus does not jeopardize the ability to use BT Access services, but allows the passenger more flexibility and freedom to travel whenever they choose.

Day treatment, or partial hospitalization works this way: just as a person might be admitted to the hospital for a minor procedure in the morning, and released in the afternoon or evening, partial hospitalization simply means a person stays at the facility for most of the day, then returns home at night. This program is for those clients who have completed detox, or for those clients who did not require detox services. The day treatment program gives a client exactly the same quality of attention and level care you'd receive with inpatient rehabilitation, with the exception sleeping at home. In day treatment, expect to participate in group therapy, educational sessions, one on one consultations with a counselor, and complete reading and writing assignments. Clients are encourage to go to the nightly Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings with peers. Clients are required to participate in fitness classes held three times weekly, attend 12 step meetings in the community daily, and participate in an offsite group activity each weekend.

There are several Medical Assistance Programs offered in Virginia. Each program covers different groups of people and each program has different eligibility requirements. When you apply for Medical Assistance, you are screened for all possible programs based on your age, income, financial resources, and other information. To be eligible for a Medical Assistance Program, you must meet the financial and non-financial eligibility conditions for that program.

Works to end the criminalization of poverty in Virginia by exposing and addressing criminal legal system policies that target people because of poverty and race. Through a mix of community organizing, local and statewide policy advocacy, and litigation, our program intervenes at many points in the criminal legal system. Our campaigns range from initial law enforcement contact in the community, through the courts, to individuals' confinement in Virginia's jails and prisons, and finally to their reentry into the community.

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP)consists of three components; Fuel Assistance (FA), Coolng Assistance (CA) and Emergency Crisis Assistance (CAP). The FA component is intended to provide supplemental assistance to offset the rising costs of heating expenses. The CAP component is intended to provide assistance with heating equipment needs and emergency fuel outages. Fuel Assistance opens the second Tuesday in October. The last day for applying is the second Friday in November. Incorporates medication-assisted treatment (MAT), along with individual counseling, group therapy, social service support, and work on co-occurring disorders.

Prescription Medication Access links low-income, uninsured adults and children with free or low-cost prescription medication programs.
