Formerly known as Regional Childhood Development, Children birth to 3 years old in Lee, Scott, Wise counties and the City of Norton found to have developmental delays and/or disabilities are eligible for early intervention services including case management, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and special instruction. Early Intervention is an Infant & Toddler Connection of DILENOWISCO program.

Pregnant women are provided medical examinations, education regarding healthy lifestyle behaviors including nutrition, breastfeeding, exercise, and safety, and referrals to other agencies. Offers case management including identification of needs and coordination of resources for accessing appropriate and timely services to pregnant women and their children up to age two.

Provides a Rental Assistance Program for Shenandoah, Warren and Page Counties administered through the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA). WAITING LIST FOR THIS SERVICE: Approximately 6-12 months. The HUD Housing Choice Voucher Program offers Section 8 housing assistance subsidy for qualified households meeting eligibility requirements. Does not offer security deposits or housing repairs. Offers HUD Section 8 rental assistance only. ACCESSIBILITY: Fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

The goal of hospice and palliative care is to assist in providing "in home" management of physical and emotional problems associated with terminal illness such as the relief of pain and distressing symptoms. Services are directed toward maintaining a high quality of life for both patient and family/significant other using team support and guidance.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a proven, evidence-based approach for substance use disorder (SUD). At BHG, we combine FDA-approved medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) – methadone, buprenorphine (like Suboxone) and naltrexone – with counseling and support services to help patients feel stable and focused on recovery. Crisis services are a 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency program within the Hanover County Community Services Board (CSB). Crisis provides emergency mental health and/or substance abuse services. In addition, it is the entry point for outpatient MH/SUD services at the CSB for Hanover County residents who meet the eligibility criteria for these services.

Volunteer Pulaski! is a volunteer based program for assisting with community needs in Pulaski County and the Town of Pulaski. Shannon Cook, Program Director, will connect a volunteer with available opportunities to assist local community organizations. Any nonprofit organization in need of volunteers may contact Volunteer Pulaski! for assistance. An application is required for any volunteer enrolled in the program.

Paws For Purple Hearts provides assistance dogs and canine-assisted therapeutic programs to America's Warriors facing mobility challenges and trauma-related conditions such as PTSD and TBI.

The Car Safety Seat program promotes proper safety seat use for children. Free child safety seats and booster seats are available to income-eligible children.

Boys Home of Virginia provides residential education for boys, ages 6-18. The focus is young men who have great promise, but with limited opportunities in their home environments.

Head Start is a federally funded Pre-Kindergarten program which provides low-income children ages three to five years with a variety of experiences to help them develop socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally. Because Head Start regards the parent as the most important teacher in a child’s life, we involve parents as much as possible in every aspect of the program. New River Community Action Head Start’s mission is to build on the unique strengths of children and families through positive engagement, health education, and a quality Pre-Kindergarten experience. CLASSROOM-BASED Serves 3-5-year-old children Full day: five days a week from August to May. Part day: four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., August to May. The classroom environment is arranged to engage children and promote learning throughout the day. Family/Health Advocates are available on site to help families establish educational and family goals and to connect with community resources. Parents are encouraged to be active members of the Parent Center Committee. They can take part in parent activities and training opportunities. Parents are encouraged to attend Celebrations of Learning. These include a showcase of children’s learning opportunities throughout the year.
