Provides services, substitute care, and supervision for a child on a 24-hour basis until the child can return to his or her family or be placed in an adoptive home or another permanent foster care placement. Local departments of social services provide training for foster parents. The training is designed to help foster parents understand and manage the needs of children in their care.

YWCA Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virgina is partnered with Ballad Health Systems to operate the Child Development Center on the campus of the Bristol Regional Medical Center. It was designed to serve the children of Ballad healthcare workers, however, additional openings are often available to parents in need of extended-hour child care within our community.

The Virginia Lifespan Respite Voucher Program (VLRVP) provides reimbursement vouchers up to $595 to Virginia caregivers for the cost of temporary, short-term respite care provided to individuals, of any age, with a documented severe disability or medical condition. Priority will be given to assisting rural caregivers, male caregivers, LGBTQ caregivers, Indigenous/Native caregivers and caregivers of people with dementia. Respite is short-term temporary care provided to someone with a disability, severe medical condition or special needs to temporarily relieve a family caregiver from that responsibility so they can rest, recharge and attend to their own care needs. Respite care can be for different periods of time, from a few hours to days or weeks.

Provides an affordable housing program that builds simple, decent homes in partnership with low-income families and volunteers. Homebuyer families purchase the homes with a no interest mortgage. The process to become a homeowner takes 2-3 years.
