Includes installing wheelchair ramps and lifts, stair lifts, grab bars, handrails, weatherizing, painting, yard work and other household repair and revitalization projects. Most work is done on the last Saturday of April but emergency work is done year-round.

Provides provides loans to very-low-income homeowners to repair, improve or modernize their homes or grants to elderly very-low-income homeowners to remove health and safety hazards. Maximum loan is $40,000 & Maximum grant is $10,000.

The project:HOMES Weatherization/Energy Conservation Program helps low-income homeowners reduce energy costs and improve comfort by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. The program prioritizes services to the elderly, people with disabilities and families with children.

Loans available for purchase of a new septic system or upgrades to an existing septic system: Up to $15,000. Septic Loans are now at 1% interest, 5-10 year loan term, and available in the following states: DE, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT.

This program provides low-interest loans for homebuyers, down payment and closing costs assistance, home repair loans and a Homeownership Education Program. Staff also provides housing counseling which includes budget and credit counseling, mortgage default and foreclosure counseling, Fair Housing counseling, and financial management.

Provides a government lending for housing repairs for low and very low-income applicants only. For very-low income homeowners 62 years old and older who cannot afford a loan to make necessary repairs, grant funds are available. Grants may be used to remove health or safety hazards, or to remodel dwellings to make them accessible to household members with disabilities. Grants are limited to lifetime assistance of $7,500.

Interfaith Rebuilds offers simple home repairs for financial needy home owners in Central Virginia who are elderly or disabled.

Provides home maintenance and repair for homeowners living in their homes. Accepts donations of home maintenance materials. Type of work completed varies with availability of materials and skill level of volunteers. Serves senior citizens, ages 60 and over. Disabled and/or low-income home owners are accepted on space-available basis. Volunteers ages 16-18 must be with a parent.

Weatherizes dwellings to assist low income households to offset the high cost of home heating. Work may include reducing air infiltration and installing insulation, roof repair, checking heating systems for safety and repairing or replacing as necessary, and caulking.

The Department of Community Revitalization coordinates the County's housing initiatives, revitalization efforts, and community development programs. The department plays an integral role in the enhancement of existing residential, commercial, and industrial areas in the County.

Evaluate and weatherize homes. Weatherization services can include insulation, weather-stripping and caulking; water-heater blankets; window and door repair or replacement; inefficient refrigerator replacement; and heating and cooling systems repair or replacement. All energy efficiency measures are determined by an initial home energy audit.

Loans are for home ownership opportunities and assistance to low-income households to purchase, construct and repair a home. Loans can be up to 100% loan to value ratios. Qualified individuals may be eligible to receive payment assistance which may reduce their payment from the established note rate of interest.

Offers financial assistance for small scale housing rehab/repairs with other local providers such as mission next neighbor, CAP and habit for humanity.

Provides assistance with indoor plumbing for Greene, Orange and Madison County residents. Skyline CAP, Inc. provides application and case management services and some funding through HOME (Housing Opportunities Made Equal). Indoor Plumbing and Plumbing Rehabilitation clients are then referred to AHIP (Albemarle Housing Improvement Program) for Greene County or Rapidan Better Housing for Madison and Orange counties for repairs to owner-occupied dwellings that have no water or wastewater systems or have failed systems or systems that do not meet basic housing standards. Provides contracts taken out to effect emergency, limited cost, repairs for qualifying families. They provide the financial assistance to families to eliminate safety or health hazards in their homes.

Assists low-income families and individuals to remove imminent health and safety hazards from their homes. Acceptable repairs include the repair of roofs, floors, building of ramps and porches, heating system repair and structural repair. Funds are limited to $4000 per client; client must pay remainder of repair work and client is responsible for getting three bids from licensed contractors. These funds are provided by a very limited Essential Home Accessibility and Repair Program (EHARP) grant.
