DeafBlind Services at DBVI support people of all ages who have both vision and hearing loss. These services help with communication, education, technology, daily living, and independence. DBVI staff complete special assessments to find out what tools or equipment may help, such as doorbell alerts, phone signalers, hearing aids, or personal listening devices. The program also connects individuals with helpful resources in their area. A DeafBlind Program Director and DeafBlind Specialist work across Virginia to provide support, training, and advice to DBVI staff and community partners. They also help make sure DeafBlind individuals can fully take part in DBVI programs and live as independently as possible.

Partners with the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide access to the Technology Assistance Program. This program provides low-cost telephone and signaling equipment to Virginia residents who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Adult Protective Services (APS) receives and investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults 60 years of age or older and incapacitated adults age 18 or older. If protective services are needed and accepted by the individual, local APS workers may arrange for a wide variety of health, housing, social and legal services to stop the mistreatment or prevent further mistreatment. Services offered may include home-based care, transportation, adult day services, adult foster care, nutrition services and legal intervention in order to protect the adult. Services may also be arranged for individuals in emergency situations who lack the capacity to consent to services.

Provides for the management and administration of the government of the City of Winchester.

A statewide re-entry program for ex-prisoners. Provides both pre-release and post-release education, counseling and direct services in the areas of employment, housing, family and community relations, food, transportation, legal/medical referrals and rights restoration. Pre-release workshops are conducted in prisons throughout the state. This program uses volunteers. VA CARES Program provides bus passes for their clients.

Each of the county health departments provide immunizations for infants, children and adolescents to prevent illnesses such as diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, Hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib), measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chicken pox). Most of these vaccines are FREE and no appointment is needed for immunization clinic. We offer adult immunizations for influenza, pneumonia, and tetanus. Our local health departments also administer some vaccines needed for foreign travel for a fee. Appointments are needed to receive foreign travel vaccines.

Provides basic health services for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families in Southwest Virginia. Offers many services on a sliding scale to migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Services include, but are not limited to, the following: primary care medical services, health education, outreach, health assessments, referrals, and case management. The MHN outreach workers identify health problems and assist farmworkers to obtain health care at one of our clinical partners centers.

Provides a cash payment through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to help alleviate emergency situations specifically related to 1) natural disaster or fire, or 2) total loss of family income in the winter months due to severe weather conditions or 3) a reduction in a labor force caused by an energy shortage. This assistance is limited to $500 in a 12-month period.

Provides guidance for individuals with serious mental illness who are in recovery. Services teach individuals to manage symptoms, recognize early warning signs, and anticipate stressors. Services provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and access to needed resources while helping to prevent hospitalization, and teaching individuals how to maintain a natural support system.

The Region Ten Women’s Center is a residential substance use treatment program for women that is designed to empower women in their recovery journey. The Women’s Center offers a comprehensive array of services including individual, group, and family therapy; peer support; parent coaching and mentoring; nutrition education; connection to medical care; connection to vocational training and education; services for children; and aftercare planning. The Women’s Center creates a stable foundation for recovering women and their children to engage in intensive treatment and wrap-around services.

Connections ABA & Family Support Services Provides home-based and clinic-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children and adolescents under the age of 21 who demonstrate significant impairment in adaptive functioning that is related to either developmental delays or other health conditions.
