Assists newly released ex-offenders and their families in making a successful transition from prison to their community. Helps with emergency needs first and then to assist with the client becoming self-sufficient by obtaining employment. Provides food, clothing, transportation, and shelter, guidance for job interviews and leads, and referrals to other agencies that would further benefit the client's stability in the community. Holds ex-offender monthly groups, and trainings across the New River Valley. Other assistance includes transportation, identification document costs, housing, and GED and education, and food assistance. Provides vouchers for public transportation, pays for identification costs, provides housing referrals, GED class expenses, books and financial assistance for college classes and food, and other supports are ways to solve the immediate needs of our clients.

The juvenile and domestic relations district court hears all matters involving juveniles such as criminal or traffic matters. Juvenile delinquency cases are cases involving a minor under the age of 18 who has been accused of committing an offense that would be considered criminal if committed by an adult. Other juvenile offenses may be referred to as status offenses. Status offenses are those acts that are unlawful only because they are committed by a minor.

Oxford House, Inc. is a network of self-run, self-supported recovery homes for members recovering from alcohol and substance abuse throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia (DC). We provide separate houses for men and women and some houses accept children with parent. When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House. All houses are near local transportation including buses and subways. Wheelchair accessibility varies by location.

Distributes emergency food to Loudoun County residents. Provides three-day supply twice a month based upon family size, any special dietary needs, and living arrangements. These needs include but are not limited to academic, social, emotional, developmental and functional skills. Many of the school staff also take advantage of the services at the Center. Promoting a positive partnership between parents and educators, the Parent Resource Center helps families understand the important role they play as part of the educational team.

The Outreach Department at HCPL provides a variety of services to residents outside the library, particularly those facing physical, economic, social, geographic or other barriers to accessing library services. The most recognizable part of the Outreach Department is Mobile Library Service (formerly Bookmobile). Outreach services include early literacy opportunities for children, delivering library materials and programs to residents in retirement communities, representing HCPL at community events, and fostering community partnerships.

Mobilized refrigerated Mobile Food Pantry. Most mobile pantries include fresh produce. Mobile pantries operate year-round. When there isn't a partner food pantry in high-need rural areas or access to fresh produce is very limited, we mobilize a refrigerated Mobile Food Pantry or Neighborhood Produce Market. This way, we make fresh foods and staples accessible where our neighbors live, work, and play. Your support of the Mobile Food Pantry and Neighborhood Produce Markets provides stability to families, children, and seniors in need through wholesome foods all year long. In the Eastern Region we have Mobile Food Pantries in Dillwyn, Scottsville, Palmyra, Reva, Orange, and Columbia.

Community center for the Hampton Roads Filipino and Filipino-American community. Offers social, cultural, and arts programs; health and senior citizen programs; historical presentations; and community meeting space.

Provides temporary financial assistance to eligible families and children. The family receives a monthly cash payment to meet their basic needs. To be eligible, a family must be financially needy and must meet certain other requirements.

Mentoring program for pregnant teens. These adult role models have successfully raised their own children and assist the teen throughout her pregnancy and up to the baby's first birthday.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly the Food Stamp Program) provides a basic safety net to millions of people by providing monthly benefits to eligible low-income families which can be used to purchase food. Assistance is in the form of debit cards to help families increase their food purchasing power in order to alleviate hunger and malnutrition.

SAARA's mission is to celebrate, support and advocate for resources and services for the prevention of and recovery from substance abuse and addiction. SAARA promotes social, educational, legal, research and health care resources and services that support accessible, effective and accountable addictions: prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery. Consumer Affairs assists consumers through advice inquiries, mediation, arbitration, and outreach. Consumer Affairs mediates complaints to ensure businesses are operating in compliance with the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.
