Permits are required for all new construction, additions, installations, alterations/remodeling, demolition, changes of use, changes of occupancy, movement of a lot or property line, removal or disturbing any asbestos, and any work not specifically exempted by the Code. Permits must be obtained prior to the commencement of any work.

The Planning Division of the Community Planning and Building Department is responsible for overseeing and implementing the goals of the City's Comprehensive Plan and enforcement of the Unified Development Ordinance to ensure that the land use of the City is in accordance with the wishes of the community and rights of property owners as prescribed by law.
