WIC stands for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. Provides nutrition education, breast feeding promotion and support, supplemental nutritious foods, counseling at WIC clinics, and screening and referrals to other health, welfare, and social services. Improves the health of pregnant women, infants and children (under 5 years) through better nutrition and access to health care. All pregnant women who received WIC will be offered a breastfeeding nutrition education class and will meet with the breastfeeding peer counselor to answer questions concerning feeding options before delivery. The breastfeeding peer counselor also follows breastfeeding women during the time that they are breastfeeding.

A community service offering one-to-one mentoring programs for children who can benefit from a positive role model, and caring adult in their life. Each volunteer mentor is matched with a child, based on compatibility.

Provides nutrition education and food vouchers for pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children younger than age 5 who cannot afford an adequate diet and have a nutritional risk. Offering a weekly recovery support group for adults living with a mental condition in which people learn from each others experiences, share coping strategies, and offer each other encouragement and understanding. It is led by a trained "peer," an individual with personal experience of a mental health condition.

These services aim to help children and youth become more involved in family and community life. Different types of support coordination are available, depending on each child's specific needs.

Counseling Alliance of Virginia provide families with comprehensive therapeutic services. Provide individuals, couples and family counseling, therapeutic activities, psychological testing and case management.

The Immigration Services program provides affordable legal assistance for those dealing with federal immigration authorities. Services including assistance with applying for family reunification, permanent residency or citizenship, employment authorization, special visas and more. Bilingual staff is accredited by the Department of Justice.

RAL have volunteers who tend to the animals; serve as adoption counselors; participate in fundraising activities and special events as well as serve on various committees.

Coordinates and facilitates initial health assessments for persons recently arrived in the United States with refugee or asylum status and residing in the City of Alexandria. Assists with referrals for follow-up of individual health-related problems.

In addition to in-person services, we also now offer a virtual Tax Assistance Program online for tax filing assistance. Our program offers a 100% online tax preparation from the comfort and security of home. This service requires that filers have access to the internet and a camera through a smart phone or a tablet. This service opens February 3, 2025.

Provides outpatient addiction treatment, including outpatient detoxification. Services include medical care, psychiatric services, therapy, and recovery coaching delivered in a coordinated, phased model that adjusts to patient needs. Treats all substances, including opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder. Medication assisted treatment and intensive outpatient services available. Accepts most commercial insurance, plus Medicare, Medicaid, and TriCare.

Offers in-patient rehab after a hospital stay, long term nursing care, a SECURED memory care unit and a respite care program for family care givers. In house rehabilitation services offered include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We have a staff psychologist and a visiting psychiatrist to address mental health needs of our residents. OSW offers in patient visits with a wound care physician as well as a staff wound nurse.
