The purpose of this program is to provide temporary hearing aids and FM systems for children with hearing loss, who are under the age of 18, while they are awaiting to receive their personal amplification devices. Family must be in process of obtaining, or making arrangements to obtain, a permanent amplification system through insurance or other mean. Six months is the standard length of the loan.

Oxford House, Inc. is a network of self-run, self-supported recovery homes for members recovering from alcohol and substance abuse throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia (DC). We provide separate houses for men and women and some houses accept children with parent. When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House. All houses are near local transportation including buses and subways. Wheelchair accessibility varies by location.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly the Food Stamp Program) provides a basic safety net by providing monthly benefits to eligible low-income families which can be used to purchase food. Assistance is in the form of debit cards to help families increase their food purchasing power in order to alleviate hunger and malnutrition. Application is required.

*BY REFERRAL ONLY**** Provides a week's worth of groceries to people in need who live in Salem, Vinton, and Roanoke County. Most clients are eligible to come in every 30 days. Provide a nutritional balance of meats, fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates and dairy to families who are referred to us by government agencies, medical facilities, schools, and churches.

Offers grief counseling for all family members. Family grief assessments tailor care to each family member, also gives referrals to Peace by Piece, a peer support group for grieving teens and children. Provides educational materials, consults with school personnel, and gives necessary referrals to community resources for further assistance.
