Provide temporary out-of -home care for children in the custody of the Department of Social Services, delivering supportive services to the children, their parents, and their foster families. Services are directed to reuniting families where possible and to placing the child in an alternative permanent home when reunification is not possible. Recruit and train foster parents. Complete home studies for interstate placement and custody requests. The Independent Living Program helps older youth in foster care acquire and use life skills to become self-sufficient.
