The TB Management program aims to control, prevent and eliminate tuberculosis in the community. The program offers free and confidential TB risk assessment screenings on Mondays by appointment only. For those diagnosed with TB or a Latent TB Infection, the TB team collaborates with a patient's medical provider to provide tuberculosis case management to include the provision of medication and care coordination. In addition, the TB team assists with identifying associated cases, the testing of contacts, transportation for CXRs and home visits to deliver medication to perform Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and Directly Observed Preventative Therapy (DOPT).

Case Management is a service that is responsive and flexible to the needs of each child and family. Each child and his/her family are assisted in gaining timely access to needed medical, psychiatric, therapeutic, social, educational and other supports. The core of the case management process is teamwork and trust. Case Managers work in partnership with families in order to develop goals that will enhance a child’s potential and quality of life in the community. Case managers assess the child’s needs, develop plans to meet those needs, help the family find services near where they live, navigate school and educational services, monitor the child’s progress, provide follow-up with family to ensure needs are met, and advocate for services and supports.

The Health Department provides prenatal and postnatal care for pregnant women who meet income eligibility requirements. Services include physical exams, laboratory tests, teaching and counseling.

The goal of the program is to eradicate lead exposure as a health hazard among children under age six in Virginia. Technical assistance is coordinated statewide in the areas of medical and environmental assessments, provider training, public education and coalition building. The program educates Realtor, contractors, renovators, families, and others regarding lead safe work practices related to EPA regulations. This program is funded by both CDC and EPA.
