"A Matter of Balance" is a fall prevention program designed to reduce fear of falling and encourage physical activity in older adults. It involves interactive workshops, exercise training, and environmental modifications to address the root causes of falls. The program is offered in small groups, led by trained coaches, and typically consists of eight two-hour sessions.

Provides free insurance counseling for individuals age 60 and older and disabled persons over 18 and their families. VICAP, the Virginia Insurance and Counseling Assistance Program, helps them to understand Medicare, Medicaid and Long-Term Care Insurance. Assistance in choosing a Medicare Supplement Insurance or Medigap policy is also provided. Counseling can be done by telephone or in person. Hospice is a health care program which provides the terminally ill with as comfortable and personally satisfying quality of life as possible at home, while at the same time, helping families face an impending death with meaning and understanding.

Ideally, at-risk children should remain with their actual families whenever possible. Although foster care services offered by the state of Virginia make every effort to keep them together, it is not always possible. Once it is determimed that a child must leave the family unit and go into foster care, a host of other services becomes available to them, which are designed to promote child safety and well-being within a nurturing, family environment. Services include placement, teaching independent living skills, physical or mental health treatment, mentoring, and opportunities for permanent living situations.
