Prescription Medication Access links low-income, uninsured adults and children with free or low-cost prescription medication programs.

Assists ADULTS OF ALL AGES who have no prescription health coverage to access the free medications from participating pharmaceutical companies. Eligibility is determined by the pharmaceutical companies participating in this program; each has different eligibility criteria. Staff complete the application using a specially designed computer program developed by the Virginia Health Care Foundation. Staff also assist with applications for Virginia Medicaid. Volunteers in Health Care developed this service to help health care providers identify programs offering free pharmaceuticals for their eligible, low-income patients.

Provides emergency financial assistance once every twelve months with utility disconnect bills, rent eviction or 5 day pay or quit notices, and prescriptions. Any resident outside of Southwest or Northwest Roanoke City will need to obtain a referral from an agency in their area of residence. Does NOT offer assistance with Oxford House rents.

Funding provided for fuel assistance. There are certain requirements that must be met in order to receive assistance, which will be approved by the Director. The Center will have a Financial Assistance Form you will need to complete. The center provides transportation and cost for birth certificate and/or DMV ID's.

Herndon-Reston FISH assists local residents in short-term crisis. FISH provides help by responding to emergency requests for rent, utilities, medical prescriptions, and other critical needs to stop destabilizing events.

The Free Clinic of Pulaski County serves those in the community who are otherwise not served by Medicaid or Medicare, do not have private health insurance and whose entire household income falls at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Guideline. A medication assistance program to obtain prescription medications at no or low cost to eligible patients, directly from the manufacturer, based upon manufacturer eligibility guidelines. Due to the time frame required to process applications (by the manufacturers), this program is most suitable for medications taken chronically and not for medication needed immediately, such as antibiotics. No controlled substances (schedules II, III and IV) are requested by health department programs even though such pharmaceutical programs may exist.

Provides a medical clinic for residents of Gloucester, Lower King & Queen and Mathews who do not have health insurance or who have certain forms of medicaid. Services include a primary and chronic care clinic, dental clinic and prescription services.

Web site and call center have extensive database of discount or free prescription medications available according to eligibility requirements. PPA determines which program to refer to based on inquirer responses to questions about eligibility, trying to get the least costly alternative.
