Literacy - Williamsburg, Literacy for Life
Literacy for Life provides individualized, one-to-one and small group tutoring and classes for adults in reading, writing, math , ESL, VPT Preparation, work skills and health literacy. The program also supports learners pursuing high school completion through the General Educational Development (GED) Test and National External Diploma Program (NEDP). Literacy for Life's offsite program provides classes taught by professional instructors at area businesses, nonprofit agencies, and public schools.

Through a school-based coordinator, CIS strategically aligns and delivers needed resources so that students can focus on learning. CIS builds relationships with students, teachers, families, and multiple community resources, with a singular focus, improving academic achievement. CIS partners with local businesses, civic groups, faith communities, public agencies and community volunteers to create resources and deliver quality programming for students and families in-need. We serve students in grades Pre-K through the 12th grade at six (9) Chesterfield County Schools.

After School Program - Norfolk, Club Sandwich, Wesley Memorial United Methodist
After School Tutoring is provided every school day for neighborhood children ages 7 thru 14 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. Program is offered September-June.
Summer Lunch Program provides nutritious lunch for children ages 3 thru 18 from 12:30pm until 1:00pm. A recreation time is provided from 11:30am until 2:30pm. Any student ages 7-18 may come for a free lunch as well as being able to participate in the enrichment program. We will feed any child under age 7 but they will have to be accompanied by an adult (parent/guardian) not a sibling or younger family member - NO exceptions.

Services offered are assistance enrolling in school, mentoring and tutoring support and arrangements, including transportation and Spanish/English interpretation, for appointments that directly affect a child's education or well-being. The Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education Program (MEP) serves the public school systems in the cities of Harrisonburg and Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Fauquier, Loudoun, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Warren.
