Open University is a lifelong learning program of The Shepherd’s Center of Richmond. It features volunteer instructors from Richmond’s university and professional communities. Eight-week sessions are offered during the fall, winter and spring.

Provides an Adult education at VVTC that encourages numerous kinds of training. Included under the adult training umbrella are; day and evening training in agriculture, business, health occupations and trade and industrial areas. The Center is the regional related instruction center for the Virginia Apprenticeship Training program. The Center has numerous training relationships with area businesses and industries. In keeping with the overall mission of Valley Vocational-Technical Center, the adult program strives to offer up-to-date training in keeping with community demands. The success of the program is evident by the average annual adult enrollment the center experiences. Many employees in local businesses, industries, and agencies received their job training at Valley Vocational-Technical Center. Local businesses and industries continue to be highly involved in the on-going development of the adult program. The ever-increasing level of technology demanded by today's work-place spells a bright future for adult training at VVTC. The Lifetime Learning Institute of Northern Virginia offers educational and cultural pursuits to adults age 50 and over. Provide members with more than 100 classes (virtual and in-person) year-round, informal special interest groups, monthly speaker forums, social events, and the opportunity for new friendships.

The Valentine offers hands-on, interactive programs for both students and adults in a continuing effort to bring Richmond's diverse history to life. Reservations must be made in advance. All education programs are compatible with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) requirements, and led by experienced Valentine educators. Programs are 60 minutes in length and include student workbooks.

Laurel Ridge Community College Adult Education serves the region with FREE classes that help students improve academic, English language (ESL), and workplace skills. Classes are held at local schools, churches, and libraries throughout the region.

Academic, career and financial aid information for adults seeking to participate in higher education. Their purpose is to assist individuals in identifying job interests and skill levels. They also help a person develop goals for short/long term training, employment and education; assist in gaining the skills needed for success in today's workplace. Locating sources for financial aid and completing the applications through one on one appointments or group presentations.

A member-driven, volunteer organization that draws on the wealth of academic and community resources in the New River Valley and beyond to provide intellectual, cultural, and social experiences for curious adults 50 and older.

Through a partnership with Virginia Wesleyan University, those living at Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay can take non-credit courses in art, history, political science, psychology, religion, popular culture, and other subjects. Taught by Virginia Wesleyan faculty, the courses are offered at no cost to Westminster-Canterbury members on site, as well as on the Virginia Wesleyan campus. Those living at Westminster-Canterbury also receive free admission to the University's facilities, plays, concerts, lectures, and athletic events (post-season NCAA tournament play requires admission).

The adult degree completion program, the Bachelor of Interdiscplinary Studies, provides the opportunity for students to earn a University of Virginia degree through classes offered in the evenings, on the weekends, and online. The certificates and course series are ideal for those individuals looking to complete a program through late afternoon, evening, weekend, and online classes. Many of the programs are offered online, making them accessible from where you live or work. Several are offered onsite at our Academic Centers located across Virginia. The courses for personal enrichment are available during the evening, and include one day workshops, short courses, lectures, and opportunities to travel.
