Homeownership - Richmond, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity

Low-income individuals and families partner with Richmond Habitat to purchase a new or rehabbed home. Those purchasing from Richmond Habitat's program are required to partner with Habitat by volunteering on their home or the home of others in the program, volunteering at the ReStore and also attending educational classes. The program is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International; it shares its world wide goal of eliminating substandard housing. Families are selected on a non discriminatory basis and volunteers are welcome from all segments of the community.

Provides these services for participating veterans at Veteran's Administration medical centers (VAMCs) and at community based outreach clinics.

Accessibility Modification Grants - Richmond, Virginia Housing

A grant of up to $8,000 to make accessibility modifications to a rental unit. Accessibility grants can be used to install ramps, grab bars and other modifications to make your home easier to navigate. This is not a loan, so no repayment is ever needed. Home Ownership - Winchester, Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity

Building affordable homes for families in the City of Winchester and the counties of Frederick, Clarke, and Shenandoah. Homes are sold to partner families with a low interest mortgage. Habitat families are selected: 1) completion of application and credit report, 2) ability to pay mortgage, 3) inability to obtain conventional financing for a home, 4) living in substandard housing, 5) meet income requirements and 6) agree to partner with affiliate.

Home Ownership - Lynchburg, Greater Lynchburg Habitat For Humanity

The GLHFH homeownership program supports low income families in attaining affordable permanent housing. The program partners with the family and volunteers to build a simple, decent home. Families are expected to complete 200-300 hours of sweat equity (volunteer labor) toward the building of Habitat homes. Families must participate in an educational program. The home is sold to the family with a no interest mortgage.
