The Runaway Program and Project Safe Place provides temporary, emergency shelter and counseling to youth who are runaways, throw-aways, or are escaping unresolved family conflicts. This nationwide program is the only one of its kind within a 100-mile radius where youth can seek 72-hour sanctuary. The goal of the program is to intervene quickly, and assist the youth and their family with reunification. As an outreach of Link House, Project Safe Place seeks to educate youth to access services through Link House instead of running away and possibly facing uncertain dangers on the streets.

Workshops include those on anger management, stress management, parenting issues, New Spouse orientation (on-line at CNIC only), Foreign Born Spouse Connection; FAP and SAPR education requirements for the military, and other topics. We also have a New Parent Support program where services are available for expectant parents and parents of new babies and children up to age 3. RIDE Solutions offers free commuter services to residents in the greater Roanoke, Lynchburg, Martinsville/Danville, and New River Valley regions. Services include carpool matching, transit, walking, and biking routing assistance for commuters. Carpool matching is managed through the www.ridesolutions.org website or by downloading the ConnectingVA app for iOS or Android. Examples of employee transportation services: • Free carpool matching to help reduce transportation expenses to get to work. • Transit support for commuters unfamiliar with their local transit agency. • Vanpool start-up assistance for employers. • Bicycle commuting support for employees with qualifying commutes. • Emergency Ride Home incentives so participating commuters do not get stuck at work without a ride. Residents who participate in the RIDE Solutions program can earn rewards for logging their carpool, bike, transit, vanpool, or telework trips. While the carpool matching service is free and open to anyone, whether or not they have a vehicle, we cannot guarantee that we will have a match for any particular commuter. Our matching program relies on having an available commuter in the database who matches the route and schedule of the requestor. Once in the database, RIDE Solutions continuously searches for new matches for our commuters and notifies them immediately if a new match is generated.

Through a mix of community organizing, local and statewide policy advocacy, and litigation, our program intervenes at many points in the criminal legal system. Our campaigns range from initial law enforcement contact in the community, through the courts, to individuals' confinement in Virginia's jails and prisons, and finally to their reentry into the community.
