Low-rent public housing: Own and operate 4 apartment developments for low income families (328 total apartments). Rents are based on income. Section 8 rental assistance: Provide rental payment assistance to low-income families living in private rental housing. Conduct various activities in selected neighborhoods with high percentage of low-income citizens and substandard housing. Activities include acquisition and demolition of dilapidated housing, provision of sites for new housing, construction of new housing, land for open space green areas. Activities and neighborhoods vary from year to year. Activities limited to City of Lynchburg.

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP)consists of three components; Fuel Assistance (FA), Coolng Assistance (CA) and Emergency Crisis Assistance (CAP). The FA component is intended to provide supplemental assistance to offset the rising costs of heating expenses. The CAP component is intended to provide assistance with heating equipment needs and emergency fuel outages. Fuel Assistance opens the second Tuesday in October. The last day for applying is the second Friday in November. Main Qualifications: Have a heating need, meet the income and resource levels, include all persons living in the household, live in an eligible living arrangement and meet the citizenship requirements. A support group provides an opportunity for family members, caregivers, friends, and/or persons with dementia to meet and develop a mutual support system that will help maintain the health and well being of its members. Exchanging practical information on caregiving problems and solutions, sharing ways of adapting to the continuing stress of coping. Sharing feelings, needs and concerns in a supportive, non-threatening and non-judgmental atmosphere, providing social contact for family members who feel isolated by constant, continual caregiving. Group will be for Caregivers and/or person with Early-stage Alzheimer's or dementia. The group will be divided with two. Either caregiver or person with dementia may attend or both.

The Community Resource and Referral Center links Veterans and their families to diverse community partners aimed at ending homelessness and promoting community reintegration and independence. CRRC provides services to assist Veterans which include a computer lab ,laundry, showers, social work services and a host of community services.
