Provides healthcare services to the uninsured, underinsured, and disenfranchised in the mountains of Appalachia in Southwest Virginia via a mobile health clinic. Services include physical assessments, laboratory services, immunization programs, screening services (such as pap tests), well-child care, routine care for the acute and chronically ill, home health visitation, pharmaceutical indigent access program, tele-medicine, health teaching components, referrals, specialty clinics, annual health fairs and a massive regional health care outreach (Remote Area Medical).

Health Brigade's Comprehensive Harm Reduction/Needle Exchange Program purpose is to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, and hepatitis C among persons that inject drugs, their families, and the larger community. Service includes the distribution of sterile and disposal of used hypodermic needles and syringes, education, referral to drug treatment, testing, and an array of other health services. Bridges the gap between children and older adults in a safe, homelike setting. Provides preschool and before and after school programs, all in an intergenerational atmosphere. Together, children and adults have participated in special activities, including a pen pal program and a celebration of our Appalachian heritage. Integrates the wisdom and insight of the elderly with the energy and enthusiasm of the young. Intergenerational day care offers children the opportunity to take part in carefully selected, supervised activities with senior citizens. It also allows family members to work or take a break from caring for a loved one. Skilled staff create individual care plans for participants. Staff includes a supervisor, activities director, registered nurse, and personal care attendants. Participants receive recreation, socialization, health monitoring and medication management in a home like environment. Each day we serve a USDA-approved breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. Collaborate with the AllCARE for Seniors PACE program. Through this partnership, participants receive socialization, in conjunction with therapy and medical services while they attend day care. Generations continues to offer training and support sessions to caregivers throughout our service area.

Heads the legislative branch of the local government. Controls taxation, budgets, borrowings, certain appointments and accounting.

Issues warrants, admits to bail, commits to jail, issues emergency custody orders, emergency protective orders, temporary detention orders and answers as many legal questions as possible. We issue civil warrants and direct persons to the proper court. We distribute pamphlets placed by citizens against family violence. We direct abused individuals to the proper places of safety.

Provides a military community's resource for base-wide volunteer activity. The training and recognition provided to volunteers fosters the sense of professionalism within the volunteer community. The volunteers also acquire skills that will enhance their personal and professional development.

Person-centered Options Counseling is an interactive decision support process where people are supported in making long-term support choices that reflect their unique preferences, strenghts, needs, values, and circumstances. Options Counseling is provided by individuals trained and practicing according to Virginia's Statewide Standards. A documented plan developed by the individual with the support of the Options Counselor as a result of Options Counseling that contains the individual’s goals, along with the action steps, resources needed, time lines and responsible parties to achieve the goals. Practices that focus on the preferences and needs of the individual, empower and support the individual in defining the direction for his or her life, and promote self- determination, community involvement, contributing to society and emotional, physical and spiritual health.

Emergency Services is a 24-hour crisis intervention program that provides consultation services and assessment of individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues. Provides financial assistance to eligible families to help pay for the cost of child care so they can work or attend education or training programs. The Child Care Subsidy Program services are child-centered and family-focused and support the broader objective of strengthening families' goals of economic self-sufficiency and quality early childhood programs for their children. Participating families may select any legally operating child day care facility eligible to participate in the program.

Assists low-income Appalachian Power customers with their electric bill. Utility assistance grants applied directly to AEP bill to help maintain or restore basic electric service (up to $300 per calendar year). Eligible customers will have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Available to customers who may not be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. Grants are dispersed on a first-come first-serve basis to eligible applicants and are based on funding availability. Client must have disconnect notice. Bill must be in the name of adult living in the household. Must have paid at leat $100 out of pocket in last 90 days or $75 if over age 65. DOES NOT APPLY TO RECONNECTION FEES.

Countryside Townhomes is a federally funded complex providing affordable rents to lower income families. Each two-story unit is equipped with a washer, dryer, garbage disposal, heat pump, mini-blinds, and storage shed.

Developmental Disabilities (DD) Residential provides residential supports to adults diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability based on the individual’s needs.

Services provided by Senior Companions include daily tasks such as companionship-talking and listening, transportation, peer- counselling, grocery shopping, meal preparation and light housekeeping.

Designed to help people with disabilities in learning new independent living abilities. The staff works directly with the consumer to teach these new skills through hands-on instruction. Together they write an independent living plan to meet individual needs, such as self-esteem, meal planning, financial management, obtaining housing and transportation and socialization.
