Must meet income eligibility guidelines. Call for information Total gross household income must be at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Must have paid at least 100 dollars on their account in the 90 days prior to applying or 75 dollars if over age 62. Must have outstanding balance on account of at least 100 dollars. Must have already applied for all other available state and federally funded programs. Account must be for residential service and not "cooking only, commercial, industrial, or apartments with shared utilities. Name on account must be of an adult currently living in the home.

Telephone and walk-ins. Bring a valid government issued identification, copy of the most recent electric bill including account number, proof of all the payments made in the past 90 days, proof of income for everyone in the household, active termination notice, broken agreement letter or proof service has been disconnected, and names, birth dates, and Social Security numbers of everyone in the household

Description

Assists low-income Appalachian Power customers with their electric bill. Utility assistance grants applied directly to AEP bill to help maintain or restore basic electric service (up to $300 per calendar year). Eligible customers will have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Available to customers who may not be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. Grants are dispersed on a first-come first-serve basis to eligible applicants and are based on funding availability. Client must have disconnect notice. Bill must be in the name of adult living in the household. Must have paid at leat $100 out of pocket in last 90 days or $75 if over age 65. DOES NOT APPLY TO RECONNECTION FEES.
