Providing connection to mainstream benefits, housing-focused case management and referral to other homeless services Walk-ins are accepted 8:30 AM to noon (even though office is open until 5:00 PM). Also, operate a hub and drop-in-site for youth who are homeless (ages 18-24). Youth can access basic supplies and essential services or resources.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist can provide training to persons who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and their families and training to businesses, nonprofits, and professionals that serve persons who have a hearing loss. Responds to request for information and referrals on niche topics related to hearing loss including, but not limited to, where to find sign language classes, support services, assistive technology, and more. Specialist promote public awareness about services via exhibits at local-regional events. Specialist assist clients with their telecommunication needs including applications, assessments, installation, training and troubleshooting specialized telecommunication equipment.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree, allows the community to choose Angels (children ages 0-13) and Silver Bells (ages 62+) from trees displayed at area malls and corporations, and purchase gifts for that child or senior at Christmas. Each Angel/Silver Bell represents an underprivileged child or senior who, without the support of the community, might not have a Christmas. Donors adopt the Angels and Silver Bells by providing new clothing and gifts for their Christmas.

Response provides free and confidential services to men, women, and children who are affected by sexual or domestic violence. We provide shelter services to women and children in our 18 bed shelter. Out-of-shelter services include case management, support groups, court advocacy, safety planning.

Provides crisis intervention and court accompaniment throughout the prosecution process; will provide an update on the status of the pending criminal case; are available to explain the prosecution procedure (i.e. what is expected of the victim, and what the victim may expect); will address safety concerns of the victim and will work with employer or school to advocate for the victim; assist with victim compensation. The Energy Assistance Program (EAP)consists of three components; Fuel Assistance (FA), Coolng Assistance (CA) and Emergency Crisis Assistance (CAP). The FA component is intended to provide supplemental assistance to offset the rising costs of heating expenses. The CAP component is intended to provide assistance with heating equipment needs and emergency fuel outages. Fuel Assistance opens the second Tuesday in October. The last day for applying is the second Friday in November. Bingocize - Older adults, through exercise, education and increased social engagement improve their knowledge of falls risk reduction and other important health topics. Tai-Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention uses slow, mindful movements and weight-shifting to relieve pain, build lower-body strength, and significantly reduce fall risks.

Local Virginia Department of Social Services office. investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults sixty years of age or older and incapacitated adults age eighteen or older. If protective services are needed and accepted by the individual, local Adult Protective Services social workers may arrange for a wide variety of health, housing, social and legal services to stop the mistreatment or prevent further mistreatment. Services offered may include home based care, transportation, adult day services, adult foster care, nutrition services and legal intervention in order to protect the adult. Services may also be arranged for individuals in emergency situations who lack the capacity to consent to services.
