This program provides free wood to citizens of the Metro Richmond area who qualify based on eligibility criteria. Wood will be delivered to homes that are located within a 12 mile radius of the woodlot in Northside Richmond. In times of wood shortage, priority is given to Richmond City residents and elderly participants. Requests for wood can be made weekly as needed, but wood will not be delivered to homes where there is sufficient wood to last for a week or more. All recipients receive one level truckload of stove-ready wood per delivery.

This office also receives materials from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and distributes them to city and school departments, and maintains the city Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in a "ready condition" in case of an emergency.
