Oxford House, Inc. is a network of self-run, self-supported recovery homes for members recovering from alcohol and substance abuse throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia (DC). We provide separate houses for men and women and some houses accept children with parent. When an individual is accepted for membership in an Oxford House, there is no time limit on how long he or she can live there, but the use of alcohol or drugs or non-payment of rent will result in expulsion. There is no clean time required to move into an Oxford House. All houses are near local transportation including buses and subways. Wheelchair accessibility varies by location.

FAMIS stands for Family Access to Medical Insurance Security. Helps families provide health insurance to their children. FAMIS is the children's health insurance program for those under age nineteen. FAMIS MOMS serves pregnant women; and FAMIS Select is an insurance premium assistance program. Dental services for children enrolled in FAMIS or FAMIS Plus are provided through the Smiles For Children program. Encourages good dental health and recommends regular check-ups with your child's dentist.

Lynchburg Fire Department houses the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Department members provide command and control support through the EOC to on-scene incident command during disaster situations. Department members also oversee the City's Emergency Operations Plan and provide the community with risk assessments and emergency preparedness information to help mitigate disasters that may occur in the future.

The Center for Psychological Services and Development (CPSD) assists individuals and families in need of counseling and assessment with affordable services provided by advanced doctoral students in VCU's Psychology Department. The Speech and Language Services provide consultations, evaluations, and therapy sessions to children ages 12 months to early teen years with communication delays and disorders. Therapists provide verbal and/or written feedback to parents so that they can understand their child’s goals and can assist in the process.
