Building on the concept that knowledge is power, information is provided about community and personal assets that can bring accomplishment to personal goals. Referrals to other service organizations are regularly a part of putting together the "total package" to meet individual independent living needs or the removal of barriers to achieving those goals.

Public Awareness - Roanoke, Fentanyl Awareness Pilot Program, It Only Takes One Initiative

Fentanyl Awareness Pilot Program strives to warn parents and caregivers that"It only takes one"; One bad decision, one counterfeit pill can cost a life. An average of five Virginians die from fentanyl poisoning every day, becoming the leading cause of unnatural death in the Commonwealth. The multi-media campaign will distribute targeted messaging to spread awareness of the drug and provide a web-based resource platform for Virginians to access information on where to get help.
