Through the onsite New River Valley Business Center: *Specializes in the areas of small business services, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, and international business, providing a distinct blend of programs, services, and resources; *Offers services that include connections to business counseling, sponsored programs, seminars, publications, and information services; *Supports the operations of businesses, entrepreneurs, and local governments throughout the New River Valley; *Provides entrepreneurs in the region with access to staff, students, information sources, and other resources required to help them start up and grow their businesses, improve their organizations, and strengthen the regional economy. Financial Assistance: The point of access for loan funds serving the region. Manages the New River Valley Revolving Loan Fund. These funds are directed toward businesses which are developing an association with one of the incubator facilities, the multi-tenant facility, or are eligible for location in one of the facilities. Information and Referral: Maintains relationships with numerous organizations in the region and beyond to provide those seeking business assistance with contacts which can best address their questions and meet their business development needs.

Provides services in operational areas including: human resources; facilities planning, development, management, and services; safety and security; emergency preparedness; government and external relations; marketing, graphics, printing and publications, college events, web services and communications.

Oversees the divisions that deliver human services such as Senior Center of York, Safety Town Program, Arts Commission, Colonial Group Home Commission, Youth Commission, Comprehensive Services Act Community Policy and Management Team, Department of Social Services, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Behavioral Health Sciences, Juvenile Courts and Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice, Peninsula Agency on Aging, Health Department and School System.

Housing organization operating a section 8 Voucher and Certificate program that provides rental assistance for eligible families (1-8 people per household). Single persons must be elderly handicapped, or disabled. The family's share of rent is based on their income.

Provides assistance to Nelson County residents in accordance with Federal Programs such as Food Stamps/SNAP, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Child Day Care Subsidies, Cooling Assistance, Fuel Assistance, Crisis Fuel Assistance, Auxiliary Grants, Medicaid, FAMIS, General Relief, Refugee Assistance, Holiday Assistance, Job Services,Companion Care, Adoption, Foster Care, Family Support Services, Adult Services, Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services.

Oversees the state's labor laws for both adults and children. Provides oversight and education regarding occupational safety and health issues. Responsible for enforcement of OSHA (safe and healthy occupational work environment for employees of businesses). Provides oversight for Virginia's Registered Apprenticeship Program, an industry based approach to learning that combines on-the-job training and classroom instruction to produce a skilled workforce. Provides boiler and pressure vessel certification, and regulation of child labor law and payment of wages law and labor law.

Offers child care provider training.

Provides assistance to citizens of King and Queen County with programs fighting poverty, neglect, and abuse, and strengthening community and self-sufficiency.

Provides the administrative body for the public school system in Warren county. Programs include education, special education programs, counseling, social work, and a school health program

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, headquartered in Roanoke, is providing job training and employment services throughout its service area in the Roanoke, New River, and Shenandoah Valleys of Virginia. Programs are available to assist individuals with disabilities, disadvantages, and job seekers seeking to improve their employment opportunities. Primarily funded through the collection and sale of donated goods. Also relies on the generous financial support of individual and corporate donors. Offers industrial services to business and industry, which provides the training and employment opportunities for individuals participating in our workforce development programs. A part of a network of local, autonomous Goodwill member organizations in the United States and Canada. Each Goodwill operates under the umbrella of a common mission; however, each functions as an independent organization with its own programs and locally-elected board of directors. Goodwill Industries International links all Goodwill members together to ensure quality standards, shared leadership, and a fluid exchange of ideas throughout the Goodwill movement.

Connection Point screens callers for various Virginia Beach Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation programs and other homeless prevention programs depending on funding availablity, as well as refers clients to community resources depending on household needs.
