Oversees the state's labor laws for both adults and children. Provides oversight and education regarding occupational safety and health issues. Responsible for enforcement of OSHA (safe and healthy occupational work environment for employees of businesses). Provides oversight for Virginia's Registered Apprenticeship Program, an industry based approach to learning that combines on-the-job training and classroom instruction to produce a skilled workforce. Provides boiler and pressure vessel certification, and regulation of child labor law and payment of wages law and labor law.
