Provides a support and advocacy group for family and friends of those suffering from mental illness. We welcome all concerned individuals -- parents, siblings, spouses and friends - who want to learn how to help or how to cope with when there is mental illness. Person with mental illness who would like to share information or learn more are also welcomed. Provides education, support, advocacy, a library and referrals. Also has a bus and operates own transportation when needed.

Provides speakers to agencies, community groups and schools on topics about domestic violence, sexual assault, programs and services provided by Hope House of Scott County, and opportunities for community involvement. Support groups available for shelter residents and their children as well as community support groups and children impacted by domestic violence in the home. Emergency temporary shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in imminent danger due to the domestic violence and sexual assault. Minor children of survivors are eligible to come to the emergency shelter along with their parents. Outreach services provided to survivors living in the community. Comprehensive advocacy services include information and referral, assistance navigating public assistance systems, safety panning, assistance with emergency needs, court advocacy, accompaniment services, crisis intervention, and services needed to move toward a life free from violence.

Domestic Violence Intervention Programs
Provide information about support groups around the state. The groups operate independently of BIAV but are provided technical assistance as they want from BIAV. Groups provide personal support and fellowship from members and help people who are living with a brain injury - either their own, or that of a loved one. Facilitators and group members help each other adapt to living a life affected by brain injury and provide fellowship and understanding. Some groups offer educational programming, recreational, and/or advocacy activities depending on the preference of the members. Provides financial assistance for medical, medications, transportation, HOPWA housing, utilities and food based on eligibility and fund availability. Case Management and Education programs available.

Provides a format for parents of children 10-18 to explore the ups and downs of parenting teens. Information is provided on teen development, communication and anger management. Provides a mutual support group for professionals or those who have family members who have autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), Asperger's Syndrome, or any related disorder. Various lectures, workshops, lending library of books, articles, audio and videotapes, information packets, resource information, social outings, and a newsletter are among the services provided.

Offers an informal forum, for those who have had an amputation, to share with each other and gather new information. Families are welcome. This is a visitation and education program designed to meet the physical, psychological, and cosmetic needs of the breast cancer patient. One-on-one support is given through visits between the survivor and patient (either face-to-face, phone, or online visits).
The Association provides the public and health care professionals with the most up-to-date information to help take a stand against diabetes through our Center for Information and Community Support (1-800-DIABETES) and two web sites, www.diabetes.org and www.stopdiabetes.com, as well as via consumer and professional books and periodicals. Local Signature special events: Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, Tour de Cure in Reston, and Tour de Cure in Washington, DC. Community Outreach/Mission Delivery Programs are designed to help educate the community and people living with type 1 diabetes about managing the disease to live healthier lives.

Offers the REAL Dads program: Be a REAL Dad. The mission of REAL Dads is to improve the quality of children's lives by supporting fathers in becoming more Responsible, Empowering, Available and Loving men in the lives of their Children. What will this program provide you The REAL Dads program provides encouragement and support to dads and provides fathers with resources and information to support their parenting goals. Provides mental health counseling to residents of Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta. A sliding scale fee is available for all clients, based on the client's family income and number of dependents. Most health insurances are also accepted. Individual, couples, marital, and family counseling is provided for a wide variety of presenting issues: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, domestic violence, social and emotional difficulties, sexual abuse and recovery, career change and job stress, grief and loss, child and adolescent concerns, LGBQT+ issues, coping with life transitions, anger management, family and parenting concerns, and more.

NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar circumstances.
By telephone, Patient Services Coordinator(PSC)will discuss your diagnosis, treatment, side effects and other cancer-related issues. The Patient Services Coordinator will ask about the caller's preferred times to communicate with a volunteer. The Patient Services Coordinator will match caller with a Support Volunteer who will contact them within 48 hours.

Offers non-medical assistance for those living with a life threatening illness and for those who love them. Provides in home and out of the home services. In home services include respite for caregivers; volunteer assistance with transportation to medical appointments and other hands on help; loaning of equipment and supplies; spiritual care and support from a Chaplain; and a library. Hospice house provides a home away from home for patients and caregivers. 24 hour care provided by trained staff is also provided. Various support groups are available for patients, caregivers and members of the community.
To offer support to anyone in the Danville-Pittsylvania County community who has experienced the loss of a loved one by death. The group is an open group offered at no charge as a community service.
