FAMIS - Clintwood, Dickenson County Social Services

FAMIS helps families provide health insurance to their children. FAMIS stands for Family Access to Medical Insurance Security. Covers uninsured children under age nineteen years whose family meets the income guidelines. FAMIS MOMS provides health care coverage for pregnant women. Good health care during pregnancy is important for you and the baby. Encourages pregnant women to get early and regular prenatal care to increase the likelihood for a healthy birth outcome. FAMIS Select helps families pay for private or employer sponsored health insurance. Offers families with children enrolled in FAMIS more health care coverage options. Allows families to choose between covering their children through FAMIS or through a private or employer sponsored health plan. Dental services for children enrolled in FAMIS or FAMIS Plus are provided through the Smiles For Children program. The Smiles For Children program encourages good dental health and recommends regular check-ups with your child's dentist.

Provides social security survivor benefits to eligible widow and widowers. Eligible individuals include: full benefits to a widow or widower at full retirement age, a disabled widow or widower 50 or over, a widow or widower at any age if he or she takes care of the deceased's child who is under age 16 or disabled, and receiving Social Security benefits. Benefits also apply to other survivors. Eligible individuals include: benefits to children at any age who were disabled before age 22 and remain disabled, dependent parents age 62 or older, some divorcees, and unmarried children under 18 or up to age 19 if they are attending high school full time. Under certain circumstances, benefits can be paid to stepchildren, grandchildren, or adopted children.
