The Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office (SFMO) provides fire safety to the citizens of the Commonwealth by educating citizens and visitors about fire hazards and fire prevention techniques and identifying factors that increase risks from fire and implementing programs to reduce those risks.

Offers to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for older Virginians. Triad works to improve the quality of life for seniors by providing an active exchange of information between local law enforcement and seniors to enhance the delivery of law enforcement services to this population.
A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to reduce the fear of falling and encourage activity. Classes are held once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks. Each class is 2 hours. Workshop is FREE. You will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risk at home and exercise to increase strength and balance. Workshops are offer virtually or in-person.
Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) is an evidence-based strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness are the single most important activity that adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. The entire curriculum of activities in the SAIL Program can help improve strength and balance, if done regularly. SAIL classes are led by community volunteers, fitness instructors, and healthcare professionals who have completed the SAIL Instructor training. tors, and healthcare professionals who have completed the SAIL Instructor training.
Offers classes to certify instructors to teach: First Aid, C.P.R., Life-guarding, Swimming, and HIV/AIDS Prevention. Certifies the public in the same courses at basic provider level. Also offers courses for adults and children.
VDFP coordinates and delivers fire emergency services education and training programs for the fire and emergency response community, public, law enforcement and industry for the purpose of protecting and defending the commonwealth against the loss of life and property. VDFP offers training programs across Virginia through our Division Offices.
