A comprehensive dropout prevention, intervention and recovery program that addresses the needs of potential dropouts, students who have dropped out and their families.

An educational prevention program serving middle and high school youth who are first generation to attend college, economically disadvantaged and/or need help in improving social skills and grades. Afterschool program consists of motivational life-skill workshops, guest speakers and field trips to colleges, sporting events, businesses, and exposure to culturally enriching activities. Youth perform community service through volunteering and runs the entire year.

Martinsville Adult Education Program provides comprehensive services to learners 18 years of age or older who are not enrolled in a K-12 school. Adult Education offers access to quality educational programs to assist learners to: -Earn a General Educational Development (GED®) -Connect to employment and job training opportunities -Transition to post-secondary education -Become proficient in English

Through innovative teaching, guidance and personal counseling to install motivation in at-risk youth and adults to complete their high school program or GED, to increase their self-esteem, and to prepare them to meet life's challenges and opportunities successfully.

African American Culture and Contemporary Issues serves students at risk of dropping out. A specialized curriculum teaches students about their heritage, leadership skills, healthy relationships, financial literacy, and more. Students are also exposed to post-secondary education.

Provides free preparatory classes for GED and Pre-GED. Classes are offered in the following subject areas: science, literature, writing skills, mathematics and reading comprehension for social studies.Also assists students in preparing for the GED test. Class locations and schedules are: Montgomery County Government Center 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg Building C, Suite B Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 12:00pm noon. Wilson Avenue House 404 Wilson Avenue, Blacksburg (Beside Harding Avenue Elementary) Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Christiansburg High School 100 Independence Boulevard, Christiansburg Room A-213 Monday and Tuesday, 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Price's Fork Elementary School 4237 Price's fork Road, Blacksburg Media Center Monday and Thursday, 6:00pm to 8:30pm. A second adult education offering is The High School Credit Program which provides an opportunity for adults to complete their high school diploma when they are missing just a few classes. A standard adult high school diploma is awarded upon successful completion of all graduation requirements for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Project Discovery encourages students to stay in and graduate high school and provides resources and tools for students to successfully make the transition to post-secondary education.

Offers an educational and career development training program free of charge to young adults between the ages of 18-24 who did not complete high school and have a desire to improve the qualify of their lives. Program participants are given the opportunity to: obtain a GED, enroll at Thomas Nelson Community College and earn up to 5 college credits, earn a Virginia's Career Readiness Certificate (bronze, sliver or gold) credential, obtain short-term occupational training (Welding, HVAC, Medical Coding, Automotive, Carpentry, and many more), enhance basic workplace readiness skills.
