Cornerstones provides First Time Homebuyer Classes; participants will receive a Certificate valid for two years to apply for the affordable housing programs in Virginia and access down payment assistance grants from Virginia Housing. The classes are free, but registrations are required.

Homeownership opportunities are available to assist First-Time Homebuyers purchasing a home in the City of Richmond and Henrico County. Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance is available. We also provide assistance navigating foreclosure prevention, VIDA Match Program, and Virginia Housing's SPARC Program.

Housing Counseling assists first-time homebuyers with purchasing a home and provides foreclosure prevention services to current homeowners in danger of losing their home.

Provides support and resources related to different housing situations: pre- and post-purchase, mortgage default counseling, rental counseling, fair housing, and homelessness. Housing counselors will listen to the situation; whether the person is renting or buying a home. Can speak with landlords or mortgage companies and help find local resources. This 12 month program will enroll members who have a goal of home ownership. The club will assist customers in planning for home ownership. Club activities will include financial planning, credit repair, mortgage education, home maintenance.

Provides direct loans to borrowers who cannot obtain financing elsewhere. They must have good credit and meet reasonable underwriting criteria. Loans are for home ownership opportunities and assistance to low-income households to purchase, construct, and repair a home. Loans can be up to 100% loan to value ratios. This program provides low-interest loans for homebuyers, down payment and closing costs assistance, home repair loans and a Homeownership Education Program. First Home Alliance provide homebuyer education and confidential one-on-one coaching to help people navigate the home-buying process.

Assists older individuals who have home equity and want to remain in their homes and have additional cash flow. Offers counselors that explain how interested parties can take out a loan, which typically does not have to be paid back as long as they live in their home. This counseling service fulfills the HUD prerequisite for Reverse Mortgage application.

The Homeownership Counseling Program focuses on helping low to moderate income residents build their financial capability skills, establish or repair their credit, purchase their first home, or save their homes from foreclosure.

Offers no-interest, deferred payment loans for downpayment and/or closing cost assistance toward the purchase of City-assisted properties.

Educates consumers about the process of buying a house, picking a mortgage and payments that can meet their budgets, and the legalities and protections available to homebuyers. Meets the qualifications for VHDA first-time homebuyers workshop requirement.

Has established a Lease to Purchase Home ownership Program enabling low income families to buy their own homes by providing budget and credit counseling to ensure financial approvals. Prospective participants must meet established Housing Authority income guidelines.
