The Energy Assistance Program (EAP)consists of three components; Fuel Assistance (FA), Coolng Assistance (CA) and Emergency Crisis Assistance (CAP). The FA component is intended to provide supplemental assistance to offset the rising costs of heating expenses. The CAP component is intended to provide assistance with heating equipment needs and emergency fuel outages. Fuel Assistance opens the second Tuesday in October. The last day for applying is the second Friday in November. Main Qualifications: Have a heating need, meet the income and resource levels, include all persons living in the household, live in an eligible living arrangement and meet the citizenship requirements. Crisis Assistance applicants must meet the following: income level, resource level. Deposits: Opens the first working day in November. May only receive once per lifetime per fuel type. (Natural gas, electric and LP gas) Heating Equipment: Opens November 1st or the first working day in November for Replacement, purchase, or repair of primary heating source. Primary Fuel: Opens the first working day in January. It is for those that did not receive fuel assistance. Requires cut off notice for electric and gas. Almost out of fuel oil, wood, coal or island purchased kerosene. Cooling Assistance: Is offered during the beginning in mid-June. Must meet eligibility requirements

Provides a juvenile and family matters court service unit that has jurisdiction over minors who have been charged with an offense, who have committed status offenses or traffic violations, or who have been neglected or physically or sexually abused. In addition, this court handles other matters involving the family such as custody, support and visitation. The court also hears family abuse cases, cases where adults have been accused of child abuse or neglect, and criminal cases where the defendant and alleged victim are family or household members.

The project:HOMES Weatherization/Energy Conservation Program helps low-income homeowners reduce energy costs and improve comfort by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. The program prioritizes services to the elderly, people with disabilities and families with children.

Provides protection for adults from abuse and neglect. Investigates and responds to reports of suspected abuse of disabled adults over age 18 and/or aged persons over age 60.

Provides Family Access Medical Insurance Program (FAMIS). Provides health coverage for children who have not had any heath insurance coverage for 6 months. Designed to cover children of working Virginia families who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid and too little to afford private heath insurance.

Middle Peninsula Regional Adult Continuing Education provides instruction to adults to improve basic academic skills (reading, writing, and math), GED Preparation (for high school equivalency) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Middle Peninsula Regional Adult & Career Education (R.A.C.E.) is a Consortium made up of the public school systems in the counties of Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, and Middlesex, and the Town of West Point.
