The Family Resource Center provides assistance to parents who have children in Colonial Heights schools. The center provides a place for parents to call or visit with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

The Energy Assistance Program consists of three components: Fuel Assistance assists low-income eligible households by supplementing home energy costs. Applications are accepted the second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November. Crisis Assistance assists low-income households with energy related emergencies. Applications are accepted November 1st through March 15th. Cooling Assistance assists households in acquiring or repairing cooling equipment and /or payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment. Provides emergency food to persons living in the greater Franconia/Kingstowne area. Individuals and families are able to obtain food once a month. Includes dry goods as well as some meat, fruit, vegetables, and paper/cleaning products. Pre-written list is submitted by the individual/family and they are supplied with food they checked on the list.

Provides advocacy and support to the economic and business interest of the Virginia Peninsula and the region.

Provides books, magazines, newspapers, microfiche, compact discs, books on tape and large print books. Offers personal computers with Internet access for public use. Offers programs for children, youth and adults.

This home ownership program supports low income families in attaining affordable permanent housing. The program partners with the family and volunteers to build a simple, decent home. Families are expected to complete 300 hours of sweat equity (volunteer labor) toward the building of habitat homes. Families must participate in an educational program. The home is sold to the family at a minimal cost with a no interest mortgage.

Circuit Court for Grayson County within the 27th Judicial Circuit of Virginia. The circuit court is the trial court with the broadest powers in Virginia. Handles all civil cases with claims of more than $15,000. Shares authority with the general district court to hear matters involving claims between $4,500 and $15,000. Authorized to hear serious criminal cases called felonies. Handles family matters, including divorce. Hears cases appealed from the general district court and from the juvenile and domestic relations district court.

Provides obstetric and gynological care for women. Augusta Health Care for Women is comprised of both male and female physicians, certified nurse midwives, and a nurse practitioner. Offers offices in both Lexington and Fishersville. Each patient is managed by the individual service provider they choose, but even when a specific provider is absent, the patients are confident in all personnel because all of our medical providers address our patients with consistent service and compassion. ACCESSIBILITY: Fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

Provides flexible gap financing for first time homebuyers at or below 80% of the area median income to purchase a home that is safe, decent and accessible. Clients select home of their choice and the program helps the client get into the home with financial assistance. The agency may have a home that it has rehabilitated for sale from time to time and clients may consider that home for purchase, as well.

Through courses, research projects, volunteerism, fellowships, discussion series, and reflection, the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement bring students, faculty, staff and community partners together to explore educationally meaningful approaches to community-identified needs.

Orange County Head Start & Pre-K Programs is a central point of entry for several different pre-kindergarten options. These include federally-funded Head Start & Early Head Start serving children birth to five and expectant families and state-funded Virginia Preschool Initiative serving 4 year olds who will be attending kindergarten the following school year.

The Elder Abuse Prevention Specialist coordinates community education programs regarding issues of elder abuse and elder abuse prevention and provides guidance with making referrals for suspected incidents of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Prosecutes criminal cases in each of the three court's in Greene County's system. The Commonwealth Attorney, a constitutional law enforcement official, is an elected official, and the legal advisor to the Greene County Sheriff's Department. The Office of the Commonwealth Attorney provides law and criminal justice information to the public with specific concern for offering assistance to victims of crime.

The Virginia Department of Health's food safety program is dedicated to promoting safe practices in food establishments, mobile units, and at temporary events

Maintains a used furniture bank.

Provides Housing Choice vouchers (Section 8) to low-income individuals and families to offset rent expenses. Applications are taken by the Waynesboro Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Vouchers can then be taken to apartments in Waynesboro that accept the Section 8 voucher program to pay for a part of the cost of rent. Anyone can apply but must want to live in the City of Waynesboro.

Provides assistance to Culpeper County residents in accordance with Federal Programs such as Food Stamps/SNAP, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Child Day Care Subsidies, Cooling Assistance, Fuel Assistance, Crisis Fuel Assistance, Auxiliary Grants, Medicaid, FAMIS, General Relief, Refugee Assistance, Holiday Assistance, Job Services,Companion Care, Adoption, Foster Care, Family Support Services, Adult Services, Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services.

NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is for persons with a mental health concern or diagnosis.
