These funds are provided by a very limited Essential Home Accessibility and Repair Program (EHARP) grant.

A special mentoring program for first time pregnant or parenting teens. Teens will receive education about taking care of themselves and their infants up to one year of age. Teens will benefit from assistance with setting educational goals, accessing healthcare, and planning for the future care of their infant.

Provides a timely screening assessment for Medicaid or Medicaid eligible clients needing nursing home placement or services in the home or community. The target population for this program includes the elderly, disabled adults, or children needing a waiver for long-term placement or services for home-based care. Screenings are conducted in partnership with the Department of Social Services (DSS) and requests for screenings need to be made through DSS. A nurse and a social worker screen the client to determine if they meet Medicaid's criteria for either (1) Functional capacity: the degree of assistance an individual needs to complete the activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, dressing) or (2) Medical or Nursing need (wound care). Services may include the following: in-home care, adult day care, or admission to a care facility. Referrals for screenings may be made through your local Health Department.

Provide year-round academic support to children in grades 1 - 12 living in the Arlandria-Chirilagua community. Daily, nutritious meals are part of the program. Students receive an average of 350 hours of academic and general support annually. Services included are an afterschool program, mentoring, and summer program.

The Halifax Victim/Witness Assistance Program is available to help victims or witnesses understand the court process, their rights, and their role as a victim or witness. The advocate serves as a liaison.

Provides short term, periodic care for the residents in the absence of their families or other care providers. The respite facility is typically used for traditional respite purposes, i.e. giving families a break or respite from caring for the family member with an intellectual disability; however, it may be used for short-term emergency placement also.

The Energy Assistance Program consists of three components: Fuel Assistance assists low-income eligible households by supplementing home energy costs. Applications are accepted the second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November. Crisis Assistance assists low-income households with energy related emergencies. Applications are accepted November 1st through March 15th. All crisis assistance is based on availability of funds. Cooling Assistance assists households in acquiring or repairing cooling equipment and /or payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment. Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) operates paratransit services focusing on curb-to-curb transportation for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed route system. Accessible vehicles comes fully equipped to handle wheelchairs, as well as the ability to kneel the bus, making loading and unloading passengers as comfortable as possible.

A federally funded community health center which provides general family practice services for low income and uninsured patients with a sliding fee based on income.
