The Child and Adult Care Food Program provides nutritious meals and snacks in daycare centers for children and adults and has been doing so for forty years. CACFP also provides meals and snacks to emergency shelters. The Summer Food Service Program is generally administered from the close of the school year through late August. Nutritious meals are provided to participants in these programs that are sponsored by public schools, parks and recreation center, etc.

The Pregnancy Support Center provides free pregnancy testing, limited obstetric ultrasounds, options counseling, information, material assistance, telephone referrals, adoption referrals, information on pre-natal development, and post abortive services.

Minimize negative health outcomes associated with risky social behaviors, such as unprotected sex or illicit drug use. CSHD offers several services related to Harm Reduction, including: Free condoms – Available for walk-ins. Free Naloxone – Calling ahead is preferred. Naloxone is the only medicine that can reverse an opioid overdose. There are two types of naloxone – Injectable and a nasal spray. CSHD offers free nasal naloxone for anyone who uses or anyone who knows someone who uses drugs. Free Fentanyl Test Strips at select health department locations – Calling ahead is preferred. Fentanyl Test Strips (FTS) are an easy-to-use tool that can help determine if a drug contains fentanyl. This could enable someone using drugs to make better informed decisions, and take steps to reduce overdosing. FTS are currently available at the following locations: Bath County Health Department Staunton-Augusta Health Department Lexington-Rockbridge Health Department

The Goochland Branch Library enhances the quality of life in the communities by providing access to information, promoting, reading enjoyment, and nurturing life-long learning.

Offers Warm Hearth at Home, a senior care management services program. Assists older adults to live as independently and as safely as possible through the coordination of needed services. Provides the additional support necessary to assist clients to maintain their current living arrangement or can help to prepare clients to navigate the transition to a higher level of care when needed. These services include in home care and rehabilitative services, companion services, housekeeping, meal preparation and delivery, maintenance and lawn services, transportation and much more.

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office has officers certified to inspect the installation of child safety seats. These officers are able to assist citizens with understanding the operation and conduct an inspection of child safety seats.

Rockbridge Recovery’s HOPE House is a six-month Men's Transitional Sober Living Program designed to assist six men at a time, who are dealing with addiction, stay clean and learn how to live a healthy and sober lifestyle.
