The Center for Alexandria's Children is a local nonprofit organization working to END child abuse in the City of Alexandria. As Alexandria's Nationally Accredited Child Advocacy Center, we deliver evidence-based prevention, intervention, and education programs to respond to abuse, prevent future harm, and equip adults to be protectors of children. ✅ Prevention We facilitate specialized Learn&PlayGroups™ for parents and children ages 0–5 that build strong families and safe childhoods. Using a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum, our experienced facilitators strengthen the parent-child bond, promote protective factors that prevent abuse, and connect families to vital community resources and supports. Priority registration is offered to families facing the greatest need. ✅ Education We deliver evidence-based prevention education programs throughout the City of Alexandria to build a community of informed, empowered adults. Through Darkness to Light trainings, we teach parents, caregivers, educators, and community members how to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse—creating safer environments where children can thrive.

The Pharmacy Connect program was established to assist persons who are uninsured or under-insured to obtain needed medications directly from the pharmaceutical companies at low or no cost.

At Strategic, our clinical staff is prepared to address the difficulties which challenge those with mental health problems. Designed to prevent institutionalization and repetitive inpatient stays, mental health support services work closely with the client, forming a service plan which address unique needs and personal goals. Problem areas are targeted and addresses. New skills are taught, enabling a higher functioning lifestyle. The client's counselor will work with him in his home as well as in the community.

The Energy Assistance Program consists of three components: Fuel Assistance assists low-income eligible households by supplementing home energy costs. Applications are accepted the second Tuesday in October through the second Friday in November. Crisis Assistance assists low-income households with energy related emergencies. Applications are accepted November 1st through March 15th. Cooling Assistance assists households in acquiring or repairing cooling equipment and /or payment of electric bills to operate cooling equipment. The State Ballet of Virginia presents professional ballet performances; trains ballet dancers, both student and professional; and excites and nurtures a love of dance through a wide range of community engagement programs.

Appalachian Power and Dollar Energy Fund have teamed up to offer assistance to neighbors in need. Assists low-income Appalachian Power customers who have difficulty paying their utility bill. Eligible customers will receive a utility assistance grant applied directly to their utility bill to help maintain or restore basic utility service (up to $300 per calendar year). Eligible customers will have a household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Available to customers who may not be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program. Grants are dispersed on a first-come first-serve basis to eligible applicants and are based on funding availability.

Help individuals access reliable transportation and build credit with fair-interest car loans. In addition to loan assistance, program participants receive additional supportive services including life skills, financial resources, and credit education.

Provides a wide variety of programs for senior adults. Services include the club scene for special interests; fitness and exercise programs; and learning and travel programs for day and overnight trips.

The Charlottesville Day education program is for youth who cannot be served in their school's traditional special education programs. This is an educational treatment program young people in grades K-12.

Security Level 1 - Assignment Criteria: Single, multiple, and Life + sentences must have served 20 consecutive years on sentence. No disruptive behavior for at least past 24 months prior to consideration for a transfer to any lesssecure facility.

VPAS' Emergency Services program provides one-time immediate financial assistance and other resources, including referrals to other public and private agencies to older adults who have an emergency need. Emergency Services may include payment assistance for medication refills, assistive devices, and utility and rent payments. Assistance is provided one-time, per year, per older adult age 60+, who must have an emergency need for help which endangers their health and/or well-being.

Provides ongoing financial aid to persons and families meeting eligibility criteria for TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families). Applicants have the right to file an application the same day they contact the agency and submit documents later.

Respiratory Equipment including: Home oxygen systems (concentrators, tanks) Oxygen portables Aerosol machines Suction equipment CPap/BiPap masks and supplies Nebulizers and pediatric nebulizers. Convalescent Equipment including: Hospital beds (manual and electric) Wheelchairs and a large variety of other Medical Equipment needs. Has registered and certified respiratory practitioners on call 24 hours a day.

There are several Medical Assistance Programs offered in Virginia. Each program covers different groups of people and each program has different eligibility requirements. After application for Medical Assistance, people are screened for all possible programs based on your age, income, financial resources, and other information. To be eligible for a Medical Assistance Program, a person must meet the financial and non-financial eligibility conditions for that program.

Provides ongoing assistance with rental payments for qualified low income households. Participants lease privately owned single family homes, apartments and manufactured homes. There is a waiting list for this program.

Provides educational opportunities as a two year institution of higher education. Offers Associate Degree and one year Certificate programs and job training programs. Offers Pre-GED, GED, PlugGEDin Health Science, adult high school, adult basic education, distance education, work readiness, and career education programs.

Provides housing for the seniors 62 years of age or over and individuals with disabilities.
