Cohen-Rosen House provides assisted living services for individuals who require memory care.

The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is a open-access, municipal shelter. The shelter provides a safe-haven for dogs, cats, and small animals like guinea pigs, rabbits and pet birds. At any given time, visitors to the adoption center can meet cats and kittens, dogs and puppies, and dozens of small animals, all available for adoption.

Child Protective Services (CPS) Intake receives and screens reports of abuse and neglect of children under the age of 18 years. Calls are screened based on state policy and guidelines. Valid reports of child abuse and/or neglect are assigned to a CPS investigator who provides either an investigation or family assessment. Both nurses and environmental health specialists work together to investigate communicable diseases, including outbreaks.

Provides the HIKE Fund, the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund, that offers hearing devices for children with hearing impairments from newborn through 20 years of age, whose parents are financially unable to meet this special need. Children are eligible to receive a grant providing the need is verified by a prescription from an audiologist or physician. Must be a US Citizen.

A 27-bed assisted living facility. Level of service provided by an assisted living facility for adults who require assistance with at least two activities of daily living. Included in this level of service are individuals who require assistance because of significant behavior problems. Facilities licensed for the assisted living level of care also may provide care to residents who require only the residential level of care. Facilities with this qualification are permitted to care for only those residents who are physically and mentally capable of self-preservation without the assistance of another person, even if the residents require the assistance of a wheelchair, walker, cane, prosthetic device or a single verbal command to evacuate the building.

The Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals (WWWOOSSP Board) licenses individuals who operate water and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as onsite soil evaluators, onsite sewage system installers, and onsite sewage system operators. The 11-member board is composed of licensed practitioners, the director of the Virginia Department of Health's Office of Water Programs, the executive director of the State Water Control Board, and one citizen.

Investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults sixty years of age or older and incapacitated adults age eighteen or older. If protective services are needed and accepted by the individual, local Adult Protective Services social workers may arrange for a wide variety of health, housing, social and legal services to stop the mistreatment or prevent further mistreatment. Services offered may include home-based care, transportation, adult day services, adult foster care, nutrition services and legal intervention in order to protect the adult. Services may also be arranged for individuals in emergency situations who lack the capacity to consent to services. Ideally, at-risk children remain with their family of origin whenever possible. This may be with their parents or other family members. Although foster care services offered by the state of Virginia make every effort to keep them together, it is not always possible. Once it is determined that a child must leave the family unit and go into foster care, the child and family continues to receive services which are designed to promote child safety and well being within a nurturing, family environment. Every effort is made for a relative to become the foster parent for the child. Foster Care services include: placement, teaching independent living skills, physical or mental health treatment, mentoring, and opportunities for permanent living situations.

There is no income guideline requirement, however, clients must have a disconnect notice. EnergyShare intake agencies determine eligibility for EnergyShare and may have additional requirements when qualifying customers for this program.
