Act as informed advocates in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims and serves as a clearinghouse providing information and assistance that will enhance the veteran's quality of life.

A program collaborating with volunteers from local law offices. Free wills, advance medical directives, and/or Powers of Attorney to those who meet age and income eligibility. This program is only available twice per year. Call for additional information and to apply for advance notification.

Provides re-entry services for local and state responsible offenders. Emergency support service referrals also available including resources for food, clothing, housing, transportation, ID, and financial assistance. Also offers Educational Programs (Anger Management, Substance Abuse, Motivational Enhancement Therapy), and Resume/Job Placement Services.

Twenty week residential program * Staff monitor offenders working in community at paid jobs and perform random urinalysis testing * Programs provided include employment counseling, substance abuse education, NA/AA groups, basic education/GED preparation, parenting skills, independent living skills, transitional services, and coping with domestic violence * Court costs and restitution collected * Community service performed * Mandatory one year supervised probation.

Bedford County provides solid waste disposal services to residents of Bedford County at theWaste Management Facility and at 25 convenience centers. Recycling services are offered at 15 of these convenience centers. Household hazardous waste is also accepted at the Waste Management Facility during regular operating hours.

A service organization whose primary focus is on sight/hearing conservation, drug awareness and diabetes awareness. Offer assistance to provide eye examinations, hearing evaluations, eyeglasses and hearing aids for residents who are unable to afford them.

DRRC is a center for independent living and assists individuals with disabilities in becoming independent in their communities. Services include advocacy, peer counseling, independent living skills, and information and referral to disability-related resources. Additional services include benefits planning for those on SSI or SSDI wishing to become employed.

Advocacy efforts support the mission of ensuring that everyone with cystic fibrosis has access to high-quality, specialized care.

Lunch is served on the 2nd and 4th Fridays at Noon to 1:00pm to anyone who is hungry. A pantry is available after lunch until 2:00PM.

Building Inspections is responsible for the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. This is done through the issuance of building permits and conducting the required inspections during the construction process. Enforcement of the USBC ensures that the minimum standards required for the construction of structures is met in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

Offers Adult Immunizations for disease prevention and foreign travel are available at each office. The Virginia Vaccines For Children Program provides the vaccines necessary for children from birth to 18 years of age to protect against childhood illnesses. Those required for children entering school for the first time are free. Fees for other vaccines are based on a sliding scale for eligible children.

Provides books and other materials, specialized collections, programs and services for the informational, educational and recreational needs of children, teens, adults and special populations.
