KPWB has served as the community’s resource for litter cleanups by providing supplies and any educational support. KPWB staff conducts monthly cleanups around the county that are open to all volunteers, and any volunteer is able to register a personal cleanup with us to receive supplies for in advance and lead themselves.

Valley Mission is a non-profit organization offering shelter, support, hope and God's love to the homeless. Basic needs of shelter, food, clothing and spiritual encouragement are provided to all. There are two thrift shops operated by the Valley Mission in Staunton and Waynesboro. The thrift shops provide assistance to those in the community needing help with clothing, household items and furniture through the thrift store. Vouchers are available for the thrift store for those unable to afford to buy needed items. Coordinates and activates emergency services in the time of disaster, (i.e., rescue, sheltering and medical care). Assigns agencies and volunteer groups at the local level to coordinate and carry out the disaster plan. Also provides emergency training for volunteers.

VPAS' Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program helps Medicare beneficiaries find unbiased answers to questions about Medicare, Medicare supplements and managed care, long-term care insurance, and other health insurance matters. Provides in-person appointments and telephone counseling, information and referral, problem-solving, and follow-up pertaining to Medicare questions, plus impartial consumer counseling about health insurance and LTC insurance. Also serves those under 60 who are Medicare beneficiaries by virtue of disability.

Charterhouse School is a fully accredited school and fully equipped school serving students with specialized education needs and residents in the Shineforth Treatment Center. The Day Program provides specialized education services to youth 6-22 years old who struggle to function in their current school setting due to learning, behavioral, or emotional challenges. Charterhouse School also offers integrated programs designed to meet the unique needs of students with Asperger's and high functioning Autism.

SUBS "Speak Up Be Safe" is a comprehensive child abuse prevention curriculum designed for pre-school and Kindergarten through sixth grade students, which works as a tool to teach children the skills they need to play a significant role in prevention or interruption of child abuse in their own lives. Children are taught what abuse is; are given prevention skills including personal body safety rules ("Tools" they can put into their tool bags to draw on if needed); and are motivated into action if threatened or victimized.

A twelve bed program in Buchanan County for adult males and females with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities and/or more severe behavior problems. Staff provide 24 hour supervision. Training is provided for personal skills, fine/gross motor coordination, safety skills, social and communication skills, and leisure activities. Involvement with family is encouraged. Families are included in periodic planning for resident needs. This program is funded by Medicaid as an intermediate care facility.
