Twice-monthly meetings provide information and encouragement to persons caring for a chronically ill or incapacitated person, most of whom suffer from dementia.

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys operates the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which is the only federal workforce program targeted to low-income older workers. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration through grant agreements with the state and eligible organizations such as Goodwill. Through SCSEP, Goodwill provides part-time employment and training in community service positions for individuals age 55 and older. Goodwill Industries of the Valleys is currently serving the older worker population throughout its 31 county, 13 city service area.

The Henry County Parks & Recreation Dept Senior Section is to fulfill all contractual requirements as a subcontractor of the Southern Area Agency on Aging by providing needed services to residents of Henry County who are sixty years of age and older, frail, and in the greatest economic and social need.

Provides books, magazines, newspapers, microfiche, compact discs, books on tape and large print books. Offers personal computers with Internet access for public use. Offers programs for children, youth and adults. Also offers meeting space with audio visual equipment at no charge to non-profit organizations and for a small fee to for-profit organizations.

Provides social security survivor benefits to eligible widow and widowers. Eligible individuals include: full benefits to a widow or widower at full retirement age, a disabled widow or widower 50 or over, a widow or widower at any age if he or she takes care of the deceased's child who is under age 16 or disabled, and receiving Social Security benefits. Benefits also apply to other survivors. Eligible individuals include: benefits to children at any age who were disabled before age 22 and remain disabled, dependent parents age 62 or older, some divorcees, and unmarried children under 18 or up to age 19 if they are attending high school full time. Under certain circumstances, benefits can be paid to stepchildren, grandchildren, or adopted children.

The Child Care Subsidy Program provides financial assistance to eligible families to help pay for the cost of child care so they can work or attend education or training programs. The Child Care Subsidy Program services are child-centered and family-focused and support the broader objective of strengthening families' goals of economic self-sufficiency and quality early childhood programs for their children. Participating families may select any legally operating child day care facility eligible to participate in the program.

A helpline for adults who are residents of the State of Virginia and would like to talk about their opioid use. Offer individualized information, resources and referrals to treatment in the local area. aAlso offer audio recordings with mindfulness and meditation exercises to help manage any pain issues related to opioid use. Not meant to replace any counseling or therapy you may currently be using but can offer additional assistance. Anyone with questions is welcome to call for information. All consultations are completely confidential and provided at no cost.
