The community leader who shapes its justice system. Thousands of cases come through the Commonwealth's Attorney's office each year and it's the job of the officeholder to ensure the community's values are front and center when determining how to treat those cases.

VHBG's Therapeutic Resource Center provides counseling, consultation, and psychoeducation services to individual youth, families, and groups. These services effectively and directly meet the needs of youth and families served through VHBG and better mirror a youth's Individual and Family Service Plan (IFSP). VHBG provides a Youth Mental Health First Aid USA eight-hour public education program free to the community each month. This program introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds an understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Mental Health First Aid uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis, select interventions and provide initial help, and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care. The course is designed for adults who regularly interact with youth (teachers, school staff, coaches, church and youth group leaders, parents, social workers, hospital staff, law enforcement, employers, etc.). The Youth Mental Health First Aid USA curriculum is primarily focused on information participants can use to help adolescents and transition-age youth, ages 12-18. The course teaches participants the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, eating disorders, AD/HD, disruptive behavior disorders, and substance use disorders.

The Day Support Program assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be more independent, learn new things, visit new places and make new friends. Provide individualized training in daily living skills, socialization, pre-vocational skills, and communication.

The goal of the SSVF Program is to promote housing stability among very low-income Veteran families who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing. SSVF provides outreach and case management services, and will assist participants to obtain VA benefits and other public benefits. SSVF may be able to provide temporary rental and/or security deposit assistance to veterans who are at imminent risk of losing their housing while also meeting the required vulnerability targeting criteria. In order to be considered for assistance, veterans must call the SSVF Intake Coordinator at the main office line and complete the screening questionnaire. SSVF is unable to assist veterans who have a dishonorable discharge.

Services at Culpeper Clinic can provide medication for the treatment of substance abuse. Individuals who are either on SAMAT medications (such as Suboxone or Vivitrol) or those who are candidates for this treatment are evaluated by Encompass Community Supports (ECS) medical staff. In addition to medical services ECS offers clinical services to include individual and/or group therapy.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly the Food Stamp Program) provides a basic safety net to millions of people by providing monthly benefits to eligible low-income families which can be used to purchase food. Assistance is in the form of debit cards to help families increase their food purchasing power in order to alleviate hunger and malnutrition.
