The School of Richmond Ballet offers dance instruction from beginner to pre-professional levels for approximately 900 students of all ages, and its Summer Intensive Program attracts aspiring young dancers from all across the country. Classes are not audition-based, but open to anyone who wants to learn to dance. Financial aid and scholarships are awarded to help qualifying students pursue a dance education at the School.

A special event is a short-term activity that requires special permitting needs and/or support from City staff, such as Alexandria Police Department or Fire Marshal, or due to the anticipated number of attendees or nature of the event.

Professional nonprofit regional theater presenting musicals, dramas, new plays by contempoary playwrights, and comedies.
An all volunteer organization, with talented people donating their time on and off stage to present five full productions per year. Membership is open to everyone, but is not required to be involved with the theater. Offers American Sign Language interpretation upon request. Call for more information.
Minds In Motion offers all fourth or fifth graders at participating schools weekly dance classes with professional teaching artists and musicians. A portion of the year is spent teaching students basic dance curriculum, followed by choreography for the culminating performance. Students work toward the performance as a long-term goal, an experience that builds confidence, perseverance, and creativity. Each year, Minds In Motion alternates between a content- or story-based theme.
The Norfolk Arts Commission provides support and encouragement to arts, culture, and humanities in the City. It develops policies and procedures necessary to carry out arts and culture programs. The Commission is responsible for establishing evaluation criteria for funding grant applications, artist selection, and carrying out review processes. The Commission reviews all grant submissions and evaluates for completeness, value, and equity.

Performs six classical orchestral concerts between October and May at George Mason University Center for the Arts. Offers a pop and family-oriented holiday concert in December. Also offers occasional specialty concerts.

Provides a "theater building bridges". Offers programs in performing arts and education, ages four through adult, regardless of experience. Programs include classes as well as full theatre productions. We work in two program areas: 1. Growing Stages: Theatre By and For Youth offers theater workshops and training for youths aged 4 through college age. 2. OnStage: Theatre Performance: A theater program for adults and families. Offers low or no cost music education, private music lessons for children and adults, music therapy, the Jazz Combo and Valley Voices, a children's choir. A variety of music classes called Musikgarten for children 4 months through 9 years old are offered at both Grace Lutheran Church and at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 300 W Frederick St in Staunton. The mission of the Valley Music Academy to provide quality music education to all children of our community, regardless of gender, race, creed or financial resources, while demonstrating that music is a powerful means of encouraging cooperation, celebrating diversity, building self esteem and cultivating a sense of nonviolence and social justice.

Provides, free of charge, the highest quality of pre-professional training possible to young dancers. Promotes cultural enrichment and awareness of the art of dance by producing affordable productions in a variety of dance styles. Reaches out to under-served and at-risk children through our community outreach programs.
Provides galleries and studios that are open to public to observe work in progress. Media includes painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, printmaking and glass are represented. Non-profit arts organization and facility offering instruction in all areas of the arts for all ages and levels of ability. Hosts monthly ESO Live! shows featuring local musicians and vocalists, performs an annual production of The Nutcracker in December and an original ballet production in May, holds an annual Craft Beer & Music Festival fundraiser, hosts a community Halloween Lantern Parade with the Boys & Girls Club, and has summer arts camps for pre-school and school age children.

The American Theatre hosts performing artists, music, dance and theatre.
Offers year-round classes in acting, voice, dance, technical theater, and musical theater for adults and children, ages 4-18.
Offers an intimate, 180 seat venue for live performances, theater, music productions, receptions, meetings and seminars.
