Offers opportunities for volunteers to work with people with Alzheimer's or other memory impairment. Training is provided. Sample volunteer activities include assisting people during an activity, engaging participants one-on-one (playing cards, helping with a puzzle, etc.) helping serve and distribute lunch, bringing in pets for pet therapy sessions, and set-up or assist with parties or celebrations. The Span Center, formerly Senior Connections, offers volunteer opportunities for short-term and long-term projects that visibly make a difference in our community.

An interdenominational youth outreach ministry. Offers social and recreational events for middle and high school age adolescents and young adults.

Matches adults age 20 and older with at-risk youth ages 6 to 17 for professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. The mentors help youth to overcome challenges and to achieve their highest potential.

Volunteers provide in-person or virtual friendly visiting; transportation to the grocery store, medical appointments, and general errands; intermittent respite to full time caregivers; technology assistance; and assist with household tasks and seasonal yard work. Volunteers may also help in Fairfax county senior or adult day health centers. The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program volunteers advocate for residents of long-term care facilities. The Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) assists residents with Medicare issues. Fairfax Pets on Wheels volunteers along with their pet, visit residents of nursing facilities and adult day health care centers.

Promotes self-direction among people with disabilities and removing barriers to independence in the community. VAIL is always seeking mentors. Please call the office for more information. RAMP is a Program that VAIL partners with DARS and it helps youth intereract with Advocacy activities, and we continue to look for additional mentors of any age willing to make a year commitment

Recruits and trains community volunteers to serve as court advocates for abused and neglected children. Volunteers conduct independent investigations, submit reports and recommendations to the court and monitor the child's case to assure services are provided and court orders are being followed. Volunteer advocates also promote and support safe, permanent and nurturing homes for child victims before the courts of the 16th Judicial District of Virginia. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) partners with area organizations to help meet their volunteer needs. You can use the skills and talents you’ve learned over the years or develop new ones while serving in a variety of volunteer activities within your community.

Volunteers in the Foster Grandparents Program (FGP) are role models and mentors to children who need additional support. The program provides a way for volunteers - age 55 and over - to stay active by serving children and youth in their communities.

CARITAS Volunteers serve those experiencing homelessness and facing addiction in Richmond by working through the Shelter, Furniture Bank, CARITAS Works, and The Healing Place. Flexible and meaningful opportunities are available for you, your office, your family, and your neighbors,

Provides trained and screened volunteers matched to persons with visual impairments requesting assistance with reading, shopping, recording material onto tape at mutually agreeable hours. Adult volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application with reference checks and participate in an orientation session. Other volunteer opportunities include Camp Lighthouse counselors, special events and office assistance.

Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in basic reading, writing, math, English, computers/technology, personal finances, citizenship, and immigration tutoring. Local partners for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, coordinate the Winchester Little Libraries that provide free books as well as leading the Campaign for Grade-level Reading.

Recruit, train, and supervise competent volunteers dedicated toward representing the needs of children in juvenile dependency proceedings.

Open for teenagers in grades 6 through 12. Basketball, game room, free food in the diner, a family room to just sit and chill. Volunteers are available for prayer and a devotional time with Pastor.
