Project Discovery is school drop-out prevention, college access preparatory program serving economically disadvantaged and first generation college students. The program is designed to promote education as a means to ending the cycle of poverty for current and future generations of students. Students attend various informative workshops designed to stimulate interest in attending and graduating colleges and or preparatory schools. Workshops include: Goal Setting Study Skills Self Esteem Choosing a Career Choosing a College College Life Criteria for Admission to Colleges Financial Aid Project Discovery assist students and their families to provide them with the following services: Obtain information and guidance on how to choose a college How to find financial aid and scholarships How to make the transition into college life Visit a variety of college campuses to get a true picture of the college experience Interact with professors and administrators from various colleges Students get free SAT, ACT, and college fee waivers to assist them in their finances Project Discovery works within the school system with superintendent, principals, teachers, and guidance counselors Participating Schools Dan River High School Tunstall High School Chatham High School Gretna High School

Empowering adolescents with factual, medical, age-appropriate knowledge and skills that will assist them as they navigate life by making good choices, developing healthy relationships, and embracing personal responsibility. Students will learn age-appropriate information about 1) human sexuality, 2) developing and understanding their values and attitudes about sexuality, 3) healthy relationships and interpersonal skills, 4) Human Trafficking, 5) responsible screen time - social media/internet safety and 6 ) how to exercise responsibility regarding sexual relationships, including addressing abstinence, contraception, and risks associated with sexual intercourse.

Prepare your middle or high school student for life after graduation. This year-round outreach program prepares students for college through weekly workshops, community service projects, culturally enriching activities and college visits.

Offers programs and services for middle and high school age children, and their families.

Positive Action is for elementary students to focus on "feeling good" about themselves. Project Aim is for ages 11-14 and provides them with the motivation to make safe choices to address deeper barriers to sexual risk prevention such as hopelessness, poverty, and risk opportunities in low-income environments. The children and youth who participate in these programs develop self-esteem, learn to make wise choices for themselves and focus on the importance of others. The TOP (Teen Outreach Program), is an evidence based national program using leadership development classes and community service learning to lead teens toward productive decisions and positive behaviors. Leadership development topics include: self esteem, communication, values, goal setting, decision making, conflict resolution, relationships, and health education. This program takes place at 13 different partner locations and is for middle and high school students.

A post-secondary access program currently offered through 24 Partner Agencies throughout Virginia in grades four to twelve. Project Discovery encourages students to stay in and graduate high school and provides resources and tools for students to successfully make the transition to post-secondary education. This is the central administrative office for this program. Project Discovery is a proven and replicable program that will help any student succeed in high school and get into college. Over the last 11 years over 84% of our graduates have gone on to post secondary education. Our program is a proven mix to: *Mentoring; *Time Management Skills; *Study Skills; *Help with Remedial Classes; *Help with Advanced Classes; *Visioning and Planning for the Future; *College Admissions Help; *Financial Aid Assistance; *Financial Literacy; College Campus Visits.

Provides one-to-one mentoring services to citizens throughout Metro Richmond, Hopewell and Petersburg. Adult volunteers (Bigs) mentor youth with the goals of increasing academic success, creating healthy lifestyles and building social skills. Volunteer screening and training, mentor and youth support services, and skill building are provided by staff.

Provides a service learning program for teens in relationship-based community agencies and volunteer projects. Supervised volunteer activities are supplemented with services that include mentoring, tutoring, character education, case management, counseling, reflection, and recreation activities. Helps low-income students Grades 9-12 explore the possibility of higher education. Offers assistance for students in high school. Workshops address goal setting, academic preparation, admissions procedures, financial aid and college selection. Campus visits and cultural enrichment activities are also included.

Youth Development promotes the healthy social emotional development of children and youth through evidence- based prevention services and initiatives, subsequently preventing costly risk outcomes such as alcohol and other substance use, pregnancy, school drop-out, and violence.

The Richmond Citadel offers youth programs, spiritual support and place of worship.

Offers the chance to explore STEM concepts and skills with interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, live demos, touring exhibitions, breathtaking presentations in The Dome and special events.

Provides outdoor experiences and academic programs, at no cost, for inner city and at-risk youths, including a multi-week summer camp. Extends programs throughout the school year with The Reading Adventure Program(RAP). Aspire Connect 2016 students participate in an after school program where reading enrichment is the core focus. The Environmental Education Center offers programs to community groups. Facilities available in non-summer months for rental for corporate conferences, retreats, group adventures, and special event rentals. YEL-J4K is a Food Desert Solution that incorporates Food Desert residents into our Solution! We're Keeping Kids Off the Streets and Raising our next Generation of CEOs and Entrepreneurs! Through YEL-J4K and ALE-J4U, we have been able to locally impact Food Deserts, Food Insecurities and Food Waste; provide Mentoring, intergenerational Training & Development (for Youth and Adults) and Career Coaching; and serve Seniors and our Communities. YEL-J4K was established in 2011 and has grown from an eight week program into a Year-Round, interactive, classroom and on-the-job training pre-apprenticeship! We connect Healthy Eating with Helping Youth, Seniors and our Communities. Our goal is to reduce the effects of Food Deserts namely Food Insecurity, Unemployment, Poverty, Crime, Chronic Disease and Mortality. Our Training & Development programs, MOBILE Fresh Produce Stands, 5-Day Meal Preps, Fruit & Veggie Delivery Service, Restaurant and Business Service Divisions (including Yard Care, Administrative Support, Senior Care, Flyer Distribution, Moving Services and Cleaning/Organizing) give our ambassadors a platform to help the Community, build their self-confidence and marketable skills and earn stipends!

Project Discovery is designed to stimulate first-generation college-bound students through information and encouragement. Activities include cultural workshops, guidance in class selection, SOL and SAT preparatory classes, workshops in both financial aid and college life, and college campus tours. Project Discovery s curriculum offers students a place to define and build their character and their self-esteem through relationships established with one another and their Program Specialist.

NVFS' Youth Initiatives programs provide teenagers and young adults with the skills and resources needed to build healthier well-being - at school, at home and within their communities. This includes connections to healthy activities as well as the skills to build and maintain healthy relationships with friends and family. Providing youth with these tools helps them build brighter futures not only for themselves, but for their community as well.

Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program (PA-PYD) designed to develop and enhance girls' social, psychological, and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experiences.

The YMCA of Greater Richmond provides teens with programming the focuses on community service, social development, leadership training, and physical development. Some of our programs include Teen Leaders Club, Youth Enrichment Program (YEP), along with a variety of other programs.

An educational prevention program serving middle and high school youth who are first generation to attend college, economically disadvantaged and/or need help in improving social skills and grades. Afterschool program consists of motivational life-skill workshops, guest speakers and field trips to colleges, sporting events, businesses, and exposure to culturally enriching activities. Youth perform community service through volunteering and runs the entire year.

Provides tutoring, educational support, SAT and college application preparation, college visits, and other related assistance to low-income middle and high school students who want to go to college.

Runs youth groups including boys and girls groups, after school programs for children, and a summer camp program.

Offers strength-building programs using the creative arts as the foundation, and tracks in four areas of focus: entrepreneurship, cultural exploration, financial literacy and community/leadership development.
