YMCA Camp Thunderbird enrich the community through the service of programs that provide wholesome opportunities for children and families to share, learn, accept, and grow.

Half-day programs are offered for children ages 2-5. Based on the Creative Curriculum, these programs address social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development, embracing hands-on learning through play. Structured activities help children bond with peers and caring adults while they prepare for kindergarten.

Free, on-going classes on healthy pregnancy, labor & delivery, as well as parenting skills. Classes meet once per week. Mothers should be nineteen years old or younger and in their first pregnancy to participate. Fathers, family and friends are invite to attend all classes and activities. Nutritious snack is served at each class as well as a take-home "snack pack"; YWCA can provide transportation to and from class as space is available.

Single adults and those with children, in imminent danger, can find temporary safe housing (from domestic violence) either in private apartments or hotels based on space availability. All clients have access to individual and group therapeutic counseling, case management, and support services. Housing assessments are conducted and referrals are made to help women secure permanent housing, employment, legal assistance and other services.

Offers after-school programs at Waddell Elementary School & Central Elementary. Children at Mountain View Elementary are bussed to Central Elementary for the after-school program there. The child care program will consider expanding its service to other locations as needed. Contact us for information.

The YMCA offers basketball and pickle ball.

Offers fitness classes including low-impact, step, circuit and sculpt and stretch. Performs fitness evaluations on an individual basis. Operates a fitness center equipped with cardiovascular and strength training machines for individuals wishing to exercise on their own.
