YMCA Before- and After-School Child Care is designed for children in kindergarten through middle school. Programs complement and enhance formal education, and provide learning opportunities that build relationships, develop character and inspire discovery to help foster your child's academic success.

RHCDC offers Preschool for children ages three through Pre-K and After-School Care, Summer Camp and Drop-In Care programs for school age students in the cities of Roanoke and Salem, Roanoke County and local private schools. After School Tutoring is provided every school day for neighborhood children ages 7 thru 14 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. Program is offered September-June. Summer Lunch Program provides nutritious lunch for children ages 3 thru 18 from 12:30pm until 1:00pm. A recreation time is provided from 11:30am until 2:30pm. Any student ages 7-18 may come for a free lunch as well as being able to participate in the enrichment program. We will feed any child under age 7 but they will have to be accompanied by an adult (parent/guardian) not a sibling or younger family member - NO exceptions.

The Out of School Time program blends recreation activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, fitness, music and dance, with programs that focus on nutrition, health, reading, math, life skills and character building. Dinner is provided by the United States Department of Agriculture under the guidelines of the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Provides after school programs for elementary school children to interact with their friends, do homework, enjoy fun art, music and dance activities, play games and sports, learn from visitors who come to share special hobbies, talents, etc. and to engage in community service projects. The after school programs are provided at the local elementary schools sites. H.E.A.R.T. stands for Healthy Environmental Afterschool Recreation Time.

The YMCA provides after school care from 3pm-5:30pm at the Blacksburg Middle School in Community Room #2, Mon-Friday during the school semester.
