The Giles County Animal Shelter is under jurisdiction of Giles County Sheriff Department. Volunteers at the shelter at the invitation of the Giles County Board of Supervisors, the Sheriff's Dept and Giles County Animal Control. Offers low cost spay/neuter and placement services for pets. Giles County Animal Shelter Call the shelter directly at 540-921-2053. The physical address for the Giles County Animal Shelter is 678 Green Hollow Rd, Pearisburg, Virginia 24136. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria operate the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility accepting any and all animals brought to us from within the jurisdiction. AWLA have made a commitment to help animals in need with the help of the community.
AWLA care for more than 2,000 animals per year, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, iguanas and chinchillas. Specially-trained staff also assist area wildlife that have been injured or are in distress, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat or transferring them to licensed wildlife rehabilitators for care and eventual release.
