1-11 of 11
A 17 session informational workshop series that provides people motivated for change with the tools and support necessary to 'get ahead' in today's world. Participants will work in a group learning environment. The participant will learn how these 11 resources affect their life, the lives of their family, and the community they live in. They will learn that money is only 1 of the 11 resources used to define success. By examining the resources they have versus the resources they need, Participants will be able to create a personal plan, based on goals, to build a future story they choose.
There are two primary components to the Employment Services Program: 1) Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training Program (JOBS) - Anyone who receives TANF and is not exempt for one reason or another will be referred to the JOBS Program. Must participate 20 hours per week in their assigned activity. 2) SNAP Employment and Training Program (SNAPET) - Eligible recipients who receive Food Stamps that are not exempt will be referred to the SNAPET Program. Scheduled to participate in an activity based in their assistance and the minimum wage. These programs offer opportunities in education, job skills training, work experience, job readiness training, and other locally developed activities in support of customers becoming self-sufficient.

Provides sheltered employment for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Works closely with the Department of Rehabilitation Services. Employment opportunities include off-site contracts in janitorial services and lawn maintenance, and on-site contracts with recycling, sorting hardware, collating documents, and packaging meals for shipping.

Program of employment opportunities to assist individuals in attaining the ultimate goal of self -sufficiency by the end of the mandated time frame of 24 months. As a condition of eligibility, each recipient of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) must participate, unless otherwise exempt. The VIEW program provides clients with the skills necessary for self -sufficiency and allows them to obtain work experience through the components of the program.
Provides employment supports to a variety of customers in community based settings, including: people with mild to severe disabilities and people with economic challenges. Services include: supported employment, job development and placement, job coach training services, situational assessment, life skills training, and social security benefits management services. Supports a variety of customers in community based settings, including people with mild to severe disabilities, people with economic challenges, for example, TANF recipients, and people with medical concerns.

Offers assessment, job placement, job retention services, supportive case management includes direct service and referral to community resources. TANF clients enrolled in the VIEW program receive assessment, job leads, job placement, budgeting information, day care assistance, and counseling to support work, training and education. Also offers some emergency need assistance.
Employee Development and Work Adjustment Training is comprehensive, individualized, and designed to develop or reestablish skills, attitudes, personal characteristics, work behaviors, and functional capacities in order to achieve positive employment outcomes. Services are time-limited and can be provided directly to individuals seeking employment or indirectly through employer/employee support programs. Job services are provided at the job site and can include counseling, intensive job training, and development of work habits, and behaviors appropriate for the work environment. Prior to completion of the program, a review is held utilizing input from the program individual, staff, families, advocates, funders, and other involved agency representatives to determine the potential for competitive employment, additional training, or the transition to other Goodwill programs. Employee Development and Training is offered to individuals living in the counties of Alleghany, Amherst, Appomattox, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Campbell, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, and Wythe, and the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, Galax, Lexington, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Radford, Roanoke, and Salem.

The Community Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC) evaluates an individual's current benefit status, analyzes the impact of work and earnings on those benefits, and makes recommendations to the individual and other stakeholders in their life. CWICS provide: work incentives planning and assistance; help you and your family determine if you are eligible for Federal or State work incentives programs; refer you to local Employment Networks or State Vocational Rehabilitation agencies; general information about potential employer-based or federally subsidized health benefits coverage available to you once you enter the workforce; and inform you of the available protection and advocacy services available.
Program assists individuals and families with job opportunities. Services provided include Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare (VIEW), Food Stamp Employment and Training (FSET), intensive case management, and Project FIND. Also offers assistance with employability assessments, job counseling/coaching, job search activities, job placement, job readiness training, job retention assistance, education and skills training, and computer lab facilities.
