The Central Virginia Workforce Development Board (WDB) is the designated regional convener and administrative entity that coordinates workforce training and career services through federal funding from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). We are charged with overseeing and implementing workforce development initiatives and activities throughout the Virginia Career Works – Central Region.

The Department of Human Resources provides services to Hanover County employees, constitutional officers, the Circuit Court, the Department of Social Services, the Pamunkey Regional Library, the Pamunkey Regional Jail, and the general public.

A One-Stop Career Center, or One-Stop Workforce Center, is a location where a wide range of employment, training, and career education program services are available to employers, workers, job seekers and youth. The OppInc One-Stop Workforce Center is part of the nationwide system of American Job Centers, which leverage public workforce dollars with other state and local funding; business resources; and foundation support to provide career development services for local workers and deliver workforce solutions to local employers. OppInc. One-Stop Workforce Centers offer a comprehensive range of services to help you find a job. Services provided through the Workforce Centers are funded through the U.S. Department of Labor so there's never a charge, although eligibility may apply for certain services. OppInc. One-Stop Workforce Centers are also members of the EleVAte Virginia.

Virginia Works staff at our Viginia Workforce Centers make available job search assistance to individuals and recruiting and referral services to employers. Services available to workers include job referral and placement, referral to training, and job search skill building activities, and basic unemployment insurance filing assistance. Virginia Works staff can assist employers by screening and referring applicants for job vacancies, providing critical labor market information for business and economic planning, and coordinating Employer Advisory Committee activities across the state.
