Provides services and resources which empower individuals who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind to achieve their desired levels of employment, education, and personal independence. Services are provided through 4 main programs: Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Teaching and Independent Living, Low Vision Services and Education Services. Most services are provided to consumers in their homes, schools or businesses. Referrals are accepted from individuals who are blind or vision impaired, schools, health facilities, families and friends. The agency operates six Regional Offices statewide: Richmond, Staunton, Roanoke, Bristol, Fairfax, Norfolk. The Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired offers these same services in a residential setting. In addition, Virginia Industries for the Blind works in coordination with the DBVI Services Division and the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired (VRCBVI) to provide a full range of employment, training, and other vocational services to individuals who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind across the Commonwealth.
