Loving Steps/Healthy Start - Petersburg, Virginia Department of Health

The Loving Steps Program is the Virginia Healthy Start Initiative. This program provides case management services during pregnancy and after delivery in order to prevent infant deaths. The Loving Steps team works to get you the services you need, answer your questions and teach you about taking care of yourself and your baby.

Nutrition Education - Lyncbhburg, FreshRx, Lynchburg Grows

A veggie prescription program designed to help people with diet-related illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, heart problems and stroke. Local doctors identify patients that are willing to make lifestyle changes and prescribe them to our program. The patients attend nine weeks of nutrition and cooking classes at Lynchburg Grows, taught by a nutrition educator from Virginia Cooperative Extension. At the end of each class, participants take home a bag of fresh fruit and produce so that they can try the recipes they learn at home.

Loving Steps/Healthy Start - Norfolk, Virginia Department of Health

The Loving Steps Program in Norfolk, Virginia is part of the Virginia Healthy Start Initiative. The goal of the program is to help make sure every baby has a healthy start in life. The program has a nurse and community health workers who visit with enrolled women and their families during the prenatal, postpartum and early parenting phases of life. If you are a pregnant woman or a new mother in the Norfolk area, a Loving Steps team member can meet with you at least once a month until your baby turns two years old! She will work to get you the services you need, answer your questions, and teach you about taking care of yourself and your baby!
